Are symptoms of rheumatic heart disease hereditary?

Rheumatic heart disease occurs in many elderly people, and some friends have questions about the hereditary nature of this disease. In fact, the symptoms of rheumatic heart disease have a certain genetic effect, but it is not strong. It is best to go to a regular hospital for a scientific examination.

Can rheumatic heart disease be passed on to children? Generally speaking, its inheritance probability is relatively high and it is easily affected by the environment. Therefore, if parents have rheumatic heart disease and want to have a baby, it is recommended that they go to the hospital for a genetic diagnosis. If there is no problem, they can have the baby.

More and more data show that genetic factors are closely related to rheumatic diseases. As early as 1889, it was pointed out that rheumatism often occurs among members of the same family. Later, some people also found that the familial incidence rate was higher. Children whose parents have rheumatic disease have a higher incidence rate than children whose parents do not have rheumatic disease.

Studies on identical twins have shown that if one of them suffers from rheumatic disease, the other has a 20% chance of also developing the disease. Therefore, after conducting a large amount of research on patients with rheumatic heart disease, some scholars believed that the susceptibility to rheumatic heart disease was related to the recessive genes of the autosomes, but this has not been further confirmed by other scholars. Another study of 40 pairs of dizygotic twins found that only 2 pairs had a common history of rheumatic disease.

Rheumatic heart disease has genetic factors, but they are not the main factors, so there is no need to worry too much. If there are patients with rheumatic heart disease in your family and you are worried, you can go to a regular hospital for an electrocardiogram.

1. Syncope

Syncope is a sudden, brief loss of consciousness due to a temporary, widespread lack of blood supply to the brain. The main reasons are: reduced cardiac output (aortic valve disease) or cardiac arrest (conduction block), a sudden and drastic drop in blood pressure (massive aortic regurgitation) or a general temporary occlusion of cerebral blood vessels (thrombus detachment).

2. Palpitations

Palpitations are the awareness of faster heartbeats accompanied by discomfort in the precordial area. Common causes are arrhythmias, increased heart rate, etc.

3. Difficulty breathing

The dyspnea of rheumatic heart disease is caused by valvular heart disease, which leads to long-term or rapid pulmonary congestion, decreased alveolar elasticity, ventilation dysfunction, decreased cardiac output, slowed blood flow, ventilation dysfunction, etc., resulting in hypoxia and carbon dioxide retention and increased pulmonary circulation pressure, causing increased excitability of the reflex respiratory center.
