Causes of hand cramps

Causes of hand cramps

Leg cramps are a common and frequently occurring disease. Many people have experienced leg cramps. When people have leg cramps, they usually say it is due to calcium deficiency and they take calcium tablets. Some people will see improvement in leg cramps if they take calcium tablets regularly, while for others, leg cramps will not be relieved even after taking calcium tablets. There is also a phenomenon of hand cramps. Compared with leg cramps, hand cramps are relatively rare. When hand cramps are severe, two fingers will overlap.

In traditional Chinese medicine, tendons belong to the liver duct. If liver blood cannot nourish the tendons, cramps will occur. To prevent cramps, do not do long or intense exercise in a poorly ventilated or enclosed environment. Before, during and after prolonged exercise, you must have adequate water and nutritional supplements.

The treatment of cramps can be divided into two parts: one is the treatment of the acute phase, and the other is the treatment of the root cause. In the acute phase, that is, when cramps occur, the patient needs to rest immediately, gently massage the cramped area, and gently stretch the muscles in the cramped area. Because when you stretch the muscles, the tension of the tendon increases. When the tension reaches a certain intensity, the nerves will transmit impulses to the brain. In order to avoid tendon injury, the brain will release messages to relax the cramped muscles. When stretching your muscles, do not use too much force to avoid straining the muscles and causing secondary injury. Short-term muscle cramps can be treated and you can return to the game, but the possibility of recurrence is still high. If the muscle cramp lasts for a long time, you can use hot or cold compresses to relieve the pain, or local spraying or applying some muscle relaxant or pain-relieving lotions or ointments are also effective. If cramps occur easily again, you need to consider whether your muscles are over-fatigued or dehydrated. If the former, you must stop the activity and rest, and if the latter, you need to replenish water and electrolytes.

If you have frequent hand cramps and Western medicine treatment is not effective, you can try some Chinese medicine methods, starting with nourishing and protecting the liver. Spring corresponds to the liver, and it is the right time to nourish the liver. Many wild vegetables begin to sprout in spring. Dandelion is the best wild vegetable for nourishing the liver. You can dig it up and take it home to make dumplings.
