Lumbar compression fracture is a type of spinal fracture, which is the most common type of spinal fracture. This is usually closely related to trauma. Many people would like to know what the symptoms of lumbar compression fractures are. Lumbar compression fractures may also present with thoracic spinal cord injury. 1. Lumbar compression fractures. The most common symptom is postural hypotension. When the patient is lifted from a supine position, he may suddenly faint. When the thoracic spinal cord is injured and the fracture heals, the sensation below the nipple disappears, but it has little effect on breathing. 2. If the thoracic cord is injured between 6 and 9, the umbilicus is pulled upward because the upper part of the rectus abdominis is not damaged; if the thoracic cord is injured between 6 and 9, the lower part of the rectus abdominis still has function, but the lower fibers of the internal oblique and transverse abdominal muscles are paralyzed, and the nonunion can be treated; if the thoracic cord is injured between 12 and 12, all abdominal muscles function well. 3. Spinal cord 6 is damaged, and all abdominal wall reflexes disappear; thoracic spinal cord 10 is damaged, femoral head ischemic necrosis, and upper and middle abdominal wall reflexes exist; thoracic spinal cord 12 is damaged. All abdominal wall reflexes are present, but the cremaster reflex is absent, the knee and ankle reflexes are hyperreflexic, and the lower limbs are spastic and paralyzed. The plane of sensory loss reaches the xiphoid process when thoracic cord 6 is injured, reaches the costal margin when thoracic cord 7 and 8 are injured, reaches the umbilicus when thoracic cord 10 is injured, and reaches the groin when thoracic cord 12 is injured. , promoting fracture healing. 4. Compression fractures of the thoracolumbar spine are mostly caused by trauma, and osteoporotic fractures in the elderly are also mostly compression fractures. The injuries suffered by the latter are generally minor and may also manifest as stress fractures, which are caused by the accumulation of repeated minor injuries. Pathological fractures usually refer to fractures caused by bone tuberculosis, bone tumors invading the vertebrae resulting in minor injuries, or fractures caused without trauma. Osteoporotic fractures can also be considered pathological fractures. |
