Is cupping effective in treating rheumatism?

Rheumatic problems affect many people, especially those who live in a humid environment for a long time, who are easily affected by rheumatic diseases. There are many ways to treat rheumatism, such as traditional Chinese medicine treatment, physical therapy, and cupping can also have a certain therapeutic effect on rheumatism, but the correct method must also be used.

(1) Cupping: For arthritis in the lower back and upper limbs, use the Dazhui, Shenzhu, Fengmen, Xinshu, and Geshu points. For arthritis in the lower back and lower limbs, use the Pishu, Sanjiaoshu, and Dachangshu points. First, use cupping jars of appropriate size to apply 4-6 cups to the main acupoints. Then select acupoints according to the different parts of the diseased area, and apply 4-8 cups to each part. The retention time in the tank is 15-20 minutes. Take once a day or every other day, one course of treatment is two weeks, and rest for 5-6 days between courses.

(2) Blood-pricking and cupping: Select acupuncture points near the affected joints, disinfect them routinely, prick them with a skin needle, and then cupping is performed, causing the skin to turn red or bleed a small amount. Leave the pot on for 10-15 minutes. The treatment is performed once every 2-4 days, and 5 times constitute a course of treatment. Suitable for acute rheumatoid arthritis.

(3) Acupuncture and cupping: The main acupoint is Dazhui. For migratory pain in the upper limbs, use Jianzhen, Jians, and Jiank; for pain in the trunk, use Mingmen and Shenshu (both); for pain in the lower limbs, use Weizhong and Chengshan. Only cupping is used on the Dazhui point, no acupuncture is performed. For patients with more serious conditions, the close-packed method can be used. Leave the cup on for 15-20 minutes, once a day or every other day.
