How to treat chronic hypertrophic rhinitis?

Chronic hypertrophic rhinitis is also a common symptom of rhinitis. Of course, we must pay attention to the choice of treatment methods. Now electrocautery therapy is a relatively effective method, which also includes electrocautery and electrocautery. However, the use of treatment methods should be based on the doctor's advice.

(1) Electrocautery: After the inferior turbinate mucosal surface is anesthetized, a small high-frequency electric knife is placed close to the bottom of the inferior turbinate under clear vision. When the switch is turned on, sparks are emitted to the mucosal surface, causing a burn from front to back. After about a week, the eschar falls off and nasal breathing improves. Areas that were not cauterized enough can be supplemented later according to the law.

(2) Electrocautery: The surface of the inferior turbinate mucosa is anesthetized as before. Place the electrocautery needle close to the thickest part of the inferior turbinate mucosa. Then turn on the current, and when the needle tip turns dark red (adjusted in advance), slowly pull the needle out from back to front, leaving a burn mark. Be careful not to touch the nasal concha and other parts, and do not let the needle touch the nose mirror. Turn off the power only after pulling out the needle. Otherwise, the needle tip will become cold and stick to the burnt tissue, causing the eschar to fall off when the needle is removed, causing bleeding. If the therapeutic effect is not significant one month after the operation, electrocautery can be performed again.

During electrocautery or electrocautery, if the nasal septum mucosa is accidentally injured, it may cause adhesion between the inferior turbinate and the nasal septum. More frequent inspections and timely separation are required after the operation.

(3) Whether it is drug cautery or electrocautery, it will damage the physiological function of the nasal mucosa and may cause complications such as pharyngitis and otitis media. There are a large number of hemolytic streptococci hidden in the eschar. There is extensive lymphatic communication between the nasal mucosa, pharynx and middle ear, which may be the cause of pharyngitis and otitis media. Burning the middle turbinate may occasionally cause meningitis, which is caused by the lymphatic communication between the olfactory area and the subarachnoid space.
