What are the causes of eye bags and how to treat them?

Many people are troubled by eye bags because they have tried many methods but have not been able to effectively remove them. The formation of eye bags may be related to skin aging or irregular eating and sleeping habits. Eye bags can be removed by applying ice or saline to the eyes.

Reason 1: Skin aging. The skin around the eyes is particularly thin, the thinnest skin on the human body. In addition, the skin around the eyes exercises a lot, with people blinking an average of 10,000 times a day, which can easily lead to aging and sagging of the skin around the eyes and cause bags under the eyes.

Reason 2: Irregular diet and rest schedule. As we age, our work and rest schedules become irregular, the metabolism of the skin around our eyes slows down, collagen and elastic fibers begin to slowly disappear, and the fat that protects the eyeballs begins to slowly accumulate. Finally, once the skin ages to a certain extent, it can no longer hold the accumulated fat, which comes out of the frame and causes bags under the eyes.

Reason three: genetics. Primary eye bags often have a family history and are more common in young people. Excessive intraorbital fat is often the main cause. Secondary eye bags are more common in middle-aged and elderly people and are often a comprehensive manifestation. Generally speaking, if parents have big eye bags, their children are more likely to inherit them.

Reason 4: Overuse of eyes. Using your eyes for a long time is also a cause of eye bags. Insufficient rest for the eyes and poor sleep can cause loose skin and muscles and lead to bags under the eyes. For example, some people work under computers for a long time, so they are more likely to have bags under their eyes.

Method 1: Salt water eye compress

Adjust the ratio of salt to water to 1:100, then soak the cotton pad in the salt water. After it is completely wet, apply it directly to the eyes for about 5-10 minutes, because the salt water will accelerate the evaporation of moisture in the eyes and relieve edema.

Method 2: Ice your eyes

Apply eye cream and use an iced spoon to help blood circulation around the eyes. Use the convex surface of the spoon to gently press on the eyes, then tap the eye skin in a clockwise direction in circles to accelerate blood circulation around the eyes, speed up metabolism, and effectively remove excess water. Finally, cover your eyes with your palms and apply hot or cold compresses.
