There are several types of cesarean section analgesia pumps

Women who give birth by cesarean section often have lingering fears. This is because the pain caused by cesarean section is very intense. For people who are too sensitive to pain, they can use an analgesic pump to relieve the pain. This is a treatment method with analgesic effects. Pain pumps are generally divided into automatic and manual types. There is also a disposable analgesic pump. Women can use this method to relieve pain after surgery.

Spinal anesthesia for caesarean section

After coming out of the operating room, I didn't feel anything. Compared with the heart-wrenching pain that mothers experience during natural childbirth, the biggest discomfort during the entire operation is fear. Especially when performing spinal anesthesia, when you see such a large needle inserted into your back and spine, you will generally tremble, and many women in labor are scared to tears. Generally, spinal anesthesia needs to be completed in several injections!

Analgesia pumps are divided into automatic and manual

An automatic pain pump delivers pain automatically every certain period of time, usually eight or ten hours; a manual pain pump generally delivers pain each time the pump is manually pressed. However, all the manual pain pumps currently used in hospitals have a setting, that is, they basically deliver the pain once every one or eight hours. If only half an hour has passed since your last press, that is to say, after you press out the painkiller once, all the time you press in the middle six or eight hours is just for comfort, making you feel like something is relieving your pain!

Why do this?

It's simple, I'm afraid of over-anesthetizing you! When faced with severe pain, people often choose to escape. This is instinct!

But, but, but, if you know the composition of the analgesic solution, you will understand why all analgesic pumps do not support unlimited dose injections!

The main types of pain medications are:

1. Narcotic analgesics: including morphine, fentanyl and tramadol, which produce strong analgesic effects. Postoperative pain is acute and short-term, and there is no need to worry about addiction when using opioids in the short term. However, the side effects of opioids such as respiratory depression, nausea and vomiting, urinary retention, and skin itching are also the reasons why patients using pain pumps sometimes experience the above complications. This type of drug is used after caesarean section.

2. Non-narcotic analgesics: mainly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Its action is mainly in the periphery, and its analgesic intensity is weaker than that of opioids. It is suitable for moderate pain. It does not have the common side effects of opioids, but it does have gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and inducing peptic ulcer attacks. Because of its antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects, it is often used for analgesia in orthopedic patients.

Commonly used by orthopedic patients

3. Neuroleptics: such as droperidol and midazolam. These drugs have no analgesic effect but may enhance the effects of analgesics. Because droperidol has a strong antiemetic effect, it is also used to counteract the gastrointestinal symptoms of narcotic analgesics.

5. Antiemetic: Azasetron is commonly used, which is a serotonin receptor blocker.

After reading this, you will understand that morphine is an important component of opium drugs! Of course, the dose we use during surgery is not addictive, but if you overdose, addiction is a small matter. The big deal is that you are likely to die from respiratory depression!
