The main types of pain medications are:

1. Narcotic analgesics: including morphine, fentanyl and tramadol, which produce strong analgesic effects. 2. Non-narcotic analgesics: mainly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Its action is mainly in the periphery, and its analgesic intensity is weaker than that of opioids. It is suitable for moderate pain. It does not have the common side effects of opioids, but it does have gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and inducing peptic ulcer attacks. Because of its antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects, it is often used for analgesia in orthopedic patients.

3. Neuroleptics: such as droperidol and midazolam. These drugs have no analgesic effect but may enhance the effects of analgesics. Because droperidol has a strong antiemetic effect, it is also used to counteract the gastrointestinal symptoms of narcotic analgesics.

5. Antiemetic: Azasetron is commonly used, which is a serotonin receptor blocker.
