Clinical manifestations 1. Symptoms in male patients (1) Symptoms without complications: At the beginning of the disease, men will experience symptoms such as urethral itching, slight pain, urethral redness, swelling, and foreign body secretion. Later, they will experience pain during urination, urgency, balanitis, urethral pus, anterior urethritis, glans pain, and even inguinal lymph node discomfort, posterior urethritis, loss of appetite, fever, and general weakness. If you have gonorrhea, the symptoms will disappear on their own after about a month. However, there are also more serious cases where the condition will not only not subside on its own after a month, but will worsen, and various complications will also appear. (2) Complications mainly include gonococcal seminal vesiculitis, which has symptoms such as urinary pain, urgency, frequency, blood in the urine, and fever; gonococcal epididymitis, which has symptoms such as fever, scrotal redness and swelling, and pain. 2. Symptoms in female patients (1) Symptoms of uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis and paraurethral glanditis include pain, redness and swelling of the vulva, urgency, frequency, pain when urinating, and pus discharge from the urethra; gonococcal bartholinitis includes fever, redness and swelling of one side of the labia majora, pain, fever, and pus discharge; gonococcal perianal inflammation is caused by vaginal secretions infecting the perianal area, and is mainly manifested by redness and swelling of the perianal area, extreme itching, and pain; gonococcal cervicitis includes pain, itching of the vulva, pus discharge from the vagina, redness and swelling of the cervix, and foreign body secretion. (2) Complications are mainly caused by gonococcal pelvic inflammatory disease, which mainly manifests as fever, pain, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and increased vaginal discharge. Precautions 1. Advise patients to avoid sexual intercourse during treatment; prohibit drinking alcohol, strong tea and coffee; do not eat spicy food and drink plenty of water; avoid fatigue and keep the area clean. 2. Carry out necessary isolation at home, and use bath towels, washbasins, bathtubs, toilets, etc. separately, or disinfect them after use. 3. Ask the patient’s spouse and/or sexual partner to go to the hospital for examination and treatment. 4. Raise awareness of sexual safety, let patients know what is safe sex, what is risky sexual behavior, and how to avoid risky sexual behavior. 5.
