As we all know, the human body's nerves play a very important role. In the human body structure, various nerves connect various tissues and organs. Therefore, if you suffer from a certain disease and have undergone surgery or treatment, the biggest concern is the involvement of nerves. After all, a single move can affect the entire body. This article will briefly introduce several methods of restoring nerves for your reference only. Treatment of nerve damage: non-surgical treatments The purpose of non-surgical treatment is to create conditions for the recovery of nerve and limb function and to prevent muscle atrophy and joint stiffness. Treatment measures can be used both after injury and after surgery: (one) Relieve compression on the fracture end For nerve damage caused by limb fractures, the fracture should be repositioned and fixed first to relieve the pressure on the nerves from the fracture ends. If the nerves are not severed, they can be expected to recover function in 1 to 3 months. Otherwise, surgical exploration should be performed as soon as possible. Some nerves are embedded between the broken ends of the bones, such as fractures of the middle and lower parts of the humerus combined with radial nerve injury. In this case, surgery should be performed as soon as possible to avoid severing the nerve during manual reduction. (two) Prevent excessive stretching of the paralyzed muscles and use appropriate splints to keep the paralyzed muscles in a relaxed position. For example: for radial nerve paralysis, a suspension spring splint can be used; for foot drop, an anti-drop brace can be used. (three) Maintain joint mobility and prevent deformities caused by muscle imbalance. For example, damage to the common peroneal nerve can cause foot drop, plantar flexion and ulnar nerve paralysis, causing claw fingers, etc. Passive activities should be performed to exercise the joints and increase the range of motion several times a day. If the joints become stiff or contracted, even if the nerves recover, the limb function will not be satisfactory, especially in the hands. (Four) Physical therapy, using massage, electrical stimulation and other methods, can maintain muscle tension, reduce muscle atrophy and prevent muscle fibrosis. (five) Perform physical therapy Exercise recovering muscles to improve limb function. (six) Protect injured limbs Protect them from burns, frostbite, crushing and other injuries 2. Surgical treatment The timing of repair after nerve injury is very important. In principle, the earlier the better, but time is not an absolute factor and late repair can also achieve certain therapeutic effects. For sharp weapon injuries, primary nerve anastomosis can be performed during early debridement. For firearm injuries, no primary nerve repair is performed during early debridement. The nerve can be anastomosed again 1 to 3 months after the wound heals to achieve the desired effect of nerve repair. Young people are purer than old people. They have better sensory and pure motor nerves than mixed nerves, are closer to the endings than to the center, and are better repaired early than late. |
