What to do if intracranial hemorrhage causes high intracranial pressure

What to do if intracranial hemorrhage causes high intracranial pressure

When a patient suffers from cerebral hemorrhage, the intracranial pressure in the brain will increase. This is closely related to the blockage of the patient's brain blood vessels and bleeding. If the intracranial pressure continues to increase, it will cause great harm to the patient and is an important cause of death. At this time, some antihypertensive drugs should be used in time, such as mannitol and some other drugs. In more serious cases, craniotomy can also be performed.

Guidance:

1. The mannitol and furosemide that patients are currently using are used to reduce intracranial pressure. If the symptoms are not severe, no other drugs are needed.

2. To determine the heart rate is to count the pulse. Unless the patient has atrial fibrillation, the heart rate and pulse rate are consistent.

3. The patient is suffering from acute trauma and may develop stress gastric ulcer. Currently, liquid food is the main food. Depending on the patient's recovery, more food and nutrition can be added.

Causes of increased intracranial pressure

1. Intracranial space-occupying lesions

Intracranial tumors, hematomas, abscesses, cysts, granulomas, etc. can not only occupy a certain volume in the cranial cavity, but also block the circulation pathway of cerebrospinal fluid, affecting its circulation and absorption. In addition, the above-mentioned lesions can cause secondary cerebral edema, leading to increased intracranial pressure.

2. Intracranial infectious diseases

Various meningitis, encephalitis, and brain parasitic diseases can stimulate the choroid plexus to secrete excessive cerebrospinal fluid, and can also cause cerebrospinal fluid circulation obstruction (obstructive and communicating hydrocephalus) and malabsorption; toxins from various bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites can damage brain cells and blood vessels, causing cytotoxicity and vasogenic cerebral edema; inflammatory and parasitic granulomas can also play a space-occupying role, occupying a certain space in the cranial cavity.

3. Brain injury

Can cause intracranial hematoma and edema.

4. Brain hypoxia

Cerebral hypoxia caused by various reasons such as asphyxia, anesthesia accidents, CO poisoning, and certain systemic diseases such as pulmonary encephalopathy, status epilepticus, severe anemia, etc. can all cause brain hypoxia and further cause vasogenic and cytotoxic cerebral edema.

5. Poisoning

Poisoning by lead, tin, arsenic, etc.; poisoning by certain drugs, such as tetracycline, vitamin A overdose, etc.; self-poisoning such as uremia, hepatic encephalopathy, etc., can all cause cerebral edema, promote the choroid plexus to secrete cerebrospinal fluid, and damage the autoregulatory function of cerebral blood vessels, thereby forming high intracranial pressure.

6. Endocrine dysfunction

Young women and obese people, especially those with menstrual disorders or pregnancy, are prone to benign intracranial hypertension, which may be related to cerebral edema caused by excessive estrogen and insufficient secretion of adrenal cortex hormones. Obesity may be related to the relative lack of adrenal cortical hormones due to the fact that some steroids are dissolved in adipose tissue and cannot exert their effects.

Experts say that if you experience headaches, vomiting, or papilledema, please go to the hospital for examination immediately to avoid delaying the condition!
