Dengue fever is an infectious disease mainly caused by mosquito bites. It is a dengue virus infection. When the patient becomes ill, he often suffers from high fever, soreness between muscles and bones, bleeding tendency, edema, and swollen lymph nodes. Dengue fever mainly occurs in tropical areas and also occurs in the coastal areas of Guangdong in my country, which has a great impact on human health. Dengue mosquito bite symptoms The incubation period ranges from 3 to 14 days, with an average of about 4 to 7 days. Clinically, dengue fever is divided into typical, mild and severe types. 1. Typical dengue fever (1) Fever usually starts suddenly, with the body temperature quickly reaching above 39°C and generally lasting for 2 to 7 days. The fever pattern is often irregular. In some cases, the body temperature drops to normal on the 3rd to 5th day, but rises again one day later, presenting a double-peak fever or saddle-type fever. Children's cases have a slower onset and lower fever. The disease is accompanied by systemic symptoms such as headache, back pain, muscle and joint pain, orbital pain, and pain behind the eyeball. There may be gastrointestinal symptoms such as hyperesthesia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, poor appetite, diarrhea and constipation. The face and conjunctiva are congested, and the skin of the neck and upper chest is flushed. A relatively slow pulse may occur during the febrile period. (2) The rash appears 2 to 5 days after the onset of the disease, first on the palms, soles, trunk and abdomen, and gradually extends to the neck and limbs. Some patients also have it on the face. It can be maculopapular, measles-like, scarlet fever-like, or erythematous, with slight itching. On the last day of fever or after the fever subsides, small bruises may appear on the feet, back of the legs, ankles, back of the wrists, armpits, etc., and disappear within 1 to 3 days, leaving brown spots for a short time, which usually disappear at the same time as the body temperature. (3) Bleeding occurs 5 to 8 days after onset. About half of the cases may experience bleeding in different parts and degrees, such as epistaxis, skin petechiae, gastrointestinal bleeding, hemoptysis, hematuria, vaginal bleeding, etc. (4) Other lymph nodes throughout the body may be slightly enlarged and tender to the touch. Hepatomegaly may occur, but splenomegaly is rare. Jaundice may occur in some cases. Patients often feel weak and powerless after the illness, and full recovery often takes several weeks. 2. Mild dengue fever Symptoms and signs are milder than those of typical dengue fever, with milder fever and body aches, sparse or absent rashes, no bleeding tendency, and often enlarged superficial lymph nodes. Its clinical manifestations are similar to those of influenza and are easily overlooked, with recovery taking 1 to 4 days. 3. Severe dengue fever The patient's early symptoms are similar to those of typical dengue fever. On the 3rd to 5th day of the disease, the condition suddenly worsens, with symptoms of meningitis such as severe headache, nausea, vomiting, impaired consciousness, and neck stiffness. Some symptoms include massive gastrointestinal bleeding and hemorrhagic shock. This type of disease often progresses rapidly, and most patients die within 24 hours due to central respiratory failure and hemorrhagic shock. |
