Is dizziness a sign of a tumor?

Dizziness is a common condition in life. Some people worry that dizziness may be caused by tumor problems. But in fact, for some diseases, we cannot make a diagnosis based on a single symptom. If you want to know whether it is this disease, you must pay attention to the hospital for more scientific examinations. For example, common symptoms of brain tumors are vomiting, visual impairment, headaches and other problems.

1. Vomiting. Vomiting often occurs in the morning or when the headache is severe. The vomiting is projectile, without nausea, and has nothing to do with diet. Compared with vomiting caused by gastrointestinal diseases, vomiting in patients with brain tumors is not accompanied by abdominal distension, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Instead, it is "projectile vomiting" that occurs suddenly after a headache. Characteristic projectile vomiting occurs because the increased intracranial pressure stimulates the respiratory center in the medulla oblongata. Some children with brain tumors, who are unable to express other symptoms, often use unexplained projectile vomiting as a criterion for the early stages of the disease.

2. Visual impairment . It is caused by papilledema due to increased intracranial pressure. Papilledema can be detected using an ophthalmoscopy. Patients may experience decreased vision, blurred vision, diplopia, hemianopsia or blindness.

3. Headache. Headache is the most common symptom of brain tumors. It often occurs intermittently in the early stages and then develops into persistent, progressive pain, which may be throbbing dull pain, distending pain, or compressive pain, or splitting pain. The headache is mostly located in the frontal, temporal or occipital areas, and the location of the pain is not consistent with the location of the tumor. This type of headache often occurs at four or five o'clock in the morning, and the patient is often woken up by the pain from a deep sleep. The deeper the sleep, the more severe the pain. The headache gradually decreases and even disappears after getting up and moving around until eight or nine o'clock, so it is called "morning headache."
