Lanshi, also known as fluvoxamine maleate tablets, is a drug for treating depression and related symptoms. It also has a good therapeutic effect on obsessive-compulsive disorder. Dosage

1. Depression

The recommended starting dose is 50 mg or 100 mg per day, taken once in the evening. Increase gradually until it works. The usual effective dose is 100 mg per day, and this can be adjusted based on individual response. In some cases, the dose can be increased to 300 mg per day. If the daily dose exceeds 150 mg, it can be taken in divided doses. The World Health Organization requires that patients continue to take antidepressants for at least 6 months after their symptoms are relieved. The recommended dose of this drug for preventing relapse of depression is 100 mg per day.

2. Obsessive-compulsive disorder

The recommended starting dose is 50 mg daily for 3-4 days, and the usual effective dose is between 100-300 mg daily. The dosage should be increased gradually until an effective dose is reached. The maximum daily dose for adults is 300 mg and for children and adolescents over 8 years old is 200 mg. The single oral dose can be increased to 150 mg per day, taken at bedtime.

If the daily dose exceeds 150 mg, it can be taken in 2-3 divided doses. If a good therapeutic effect has been achieved, this dosage adjusted according to individual response can be continued. If symptoms do not improve within 10 weeks of medication, this product should be continued. Although there are no systematic data to suggest the maximum duration of treatment with fluvoxamine, since OCD is a chronic disease, treatment duration may be greater than 10 weeks. The dose should be carefully adjusted according to the patient's condition so that the patient receives the lowest possible effective dose. The need to continue treatment should be assessed periodically. Concurrent behavioral therapy may also be considered.

Precautions

Depressed patients often have suicidal tendencies, which often persist before their symptoms improve significantly.

Patients with impaired liver or renal function should be started at a lower dose and monitored closely. Occasionally, patients without known liver function abnormalities may experience elevated liver enzymes after taking the drug, often accompanied by clinical symptoms. If this occurs, the medication should be discontinued immediately.

Animal experiments have not found that this product can cause convulsions, but patients with a history of epilepsy should use it with caution. If convulsions occur, this product should be discontinued immediately.

There have been reports of abnormal bleeding in the skin and mucous membranes, such as ecchymoses and purpura, with the use of serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It should be used with caution in patients taking drugs that affect platelet function (tricyclic antidepressants, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.) or with a history of abnormal bleeding.

Healthy volunteers took 150 mg of this product daily and had no effect on driving or operating machinery. However, there are reports that drowsiness may occur after taking the drug, so those who drive or operate machinery should be careful. It should be swallowed with water and should not be chewed.
