Viral encephalitis brings a lot of trouble to patients and their families. Once contracted, there will be more or less sequelae. This requires special care and more attention when caring for patients with viral encephalitis. So, in addition to daily care, can we provide proper treatment for the various sequelae of viral encephalitis? There are many manifestations of the sequelae of viral encephalitis, but the main treatment methods are only a few aspects. We can use drugs to promote the regeneration of nerve cells or restore the normal function of cells. We can also use drugs to change the environment of cells, or use traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation and physical therapy methods. In the past, the prognosis for patients with viral encephalitis was poor, and survivors often suffered from sequelae such as hemiplegia, aphasia, amnesia, and mental disorders. However, with the introduction of some new antiviral drugs such as acyclovir, patients can generally recover as long as they are treated in time. But the treatment is not timely or improper. There may still be sequelae, which can be gradually recovered after comprehensive treatment after half a year or even several years. The treatment of sequelae of viral encephalitis mainly includes the following aspects: 1. Drugs that promote nerve cell regeneration: For example, 10 to 30 ml of cerebrolysin is dissolved in 250 ml of normal saline and slowly injected intravenously once a day for 10 to 20 days as a course of treatment. 2. Drugs to restore normal cell function: such as 0.75 g of citicoline dissolved in 5% glucose solution or 250-500 ml of normal saline, administered intravenously once a day, or 0.25 g injected into the spinal canal. 3. Drugs that improve the brain cell environment: For example, nimodipine can dilate cerebral blood vessels, improve cerebral blood supply, and facilitate the delivery of various nutrients to brain cells. Generally, 1 mg is given intravenously continuously within 1 hour at the beginning of treatment. If the patient can tolerate it, the dose is increased to 2 mg per hour after 1 hour. The total daily dose is 24 to 48 mg, and one course of treatment is 7 to 14 days. In addition, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be used to improve oxygen supply to brain cells. 4. Physical therapy. 5. Rehabilitation treatment: Acupuncture and limb function exercises can be used to promote the recovery of limb function. 6. Traditional Chinese medicine: For example, Xingnaojing can invigorate the brain, promote qi and blood circulation, cool blood and detoxify, and is effective for the sequelae of encephalitis and cerebrovascular disease. Generally, 10 to 20 ml is dissolved in 25% to 10% glucose or 250 to 500 ml of normal saline and administered intravenously once a day. The above introduces six treatment methods for the sequelae of viral encephalitis. When caring for patients with viral encephalitis, we can also use some drugs to improve the environment of nerve cells, promote cell regeneration, and restore cell function. We can also use traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation methods, such as acupuncture, for treatment. |
