White spots on skin after sun exposure

Due to the misunderstanding of vitiligo and white spots, their health may be affected to a certain extent.

The extent of leukoplakia can be localized or generalized. Congenital leukoplakia can be localized, such as anemic nevus, amelanotic nevus and amelanotic incontinence pigmenti, or it can be systemic, such as albinism and mottled disease. However, once these white spots are fully formed, their range will not change significantly. The distribution of acquired vitiligo varies depending on its cause. For example, solar leukoplakia is distributed in areas exposed to sunlight; simple pityriasis is mostly located on the face; tinea versicolor is mostly located in areas of the trunk with more sebum secretion; and occupational leukoplakia is mostly located in areas exposed to chemical substances. Some white spots can spread all over the body, such as syphilitic white spots and senile white spots, but these white spots are relatively consistent in size and will not merge into patches.

1. Stable period

The white spots stop developing, the pigmentation at the edges deepens, and the boundary between the white spots and normal skin becomes clear. Clinically, it is often seen that some patients do not develop vitiligo for many years after it occurs. The causative factors may only be transient, and therefore it is possible that it will not develop again in the future (of course, this is not absolute, but only in most cases).

2. Progression stage

The white spots are still expanding or new white spots appear in other parts of the body, and the boundary between the white spots and normal skin is unclear. In the progressive stage of vitiligo, the pathogenic factors still exist and the disease is still active. The treatment at this time should adopt methods targeting the cause of the disease, such as hormones, immunomodulators, traditional Chinese medicine, physical therapy, etc. The focus is to quickly control the disease with effective drugs and try not to let the white spots expand further. Patients in the advanced stage should avoid excessive sun exposure or use of irritant drugs to avoid isomorphic reactions.
