What is the reason for increased discharge near the due date?

As the due date approaches, the pregnant woman's secretions gradually increase, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. This is mainly due to the effect of estrogen, which causes a significant increase in the vagina, cervix and other parts of the pregnant woman. At this time, the tissues are more watery, and the amount of vaginal discharge is significantly increased than usual. In addition to the doubling of secretions, before delivery, there will be spotting and increased uterine contractions, which all indicate that the birth is coming.

4 signs before childbirth indicate that you are about to give birth

1. Abdominal prolapse, increased vaginal discharge, and significantly increased frequency of urination

About one to two weeks before the due date, pregnant mothers will noticeably feel that their upper abdomen becomes lighter and their lower abdomen becomes heavier, as if the baby is about to fall out. This is a sign that the baby is about to be born. However, there is still about half a month before the baby is born, so pregnant mothers don’t need to worry too much, just wait patiently for the baby to be born. At this time, pregnant mothers will obviously feel that the frequency of urination has increased and the vaginal secretions have also increased.

2. Seeing red

The reason for spotting is that the cervix begins to move, and the fetal membrane near the cervix begins to separate from the uterine wall, causing the capillaries to rupture and bleed. Spotting is a formal sign before labor, usually occurring within 24 to 48 hours before delivery.

There are 4 common situations in which spotting occurs:

1. Brown, pink, and red are all possible colors

2. The amount of bleeding is significantly less than that during menstruation

3. It usually occurs 24 hours before contractions, but it varies from person to person. There are also cases where spotting may occur repeatedly a week before.

4. Mixed mucus flows out with a thick texture.

When pregnant mothers see blood, it means that you are about to give birth. Therefore, be prepared for production. Go to the hospital for examination first, and get the advice of the obstetrician and gynecologist to decide whether to give birth in the hospital.

3. Uterine contractions increase and labor pains become more frequent

Uterine contractions gradually increase, and the pain in the lower abdomen becomes more intense and more frequent. If the frequency of lower abdominal contractions is less than once every 30 seconds, you need to be examined by a doctor, who will tell you that the cervix has dilated.

If the uterine contractions intensify and the labor pains become unbearable, mothers need to slowly adjust their breathing to ease their tension, relax their bodies and relieve the pains.

4. Broken water

You will feel warm, transparent liquid flowing out of the vagina, which means your water is breaking. The amniotic fluid ruptures because the uterus contracts and the intrauterine pressure rises. The detached fetal membrane enters the cervix to form the anterior amniotic sac. When the intrauterine pressure rises to an extreme, the fetal membrane ruptures and the amniotic fluid flows out. Rupture of amniotic fluid mainly occurs when the pregnant mother's cervix is fully opened, which also means that you are about to give birth.

When your water breaks, don't panic. Early rupture of membranes may lead to bacterial infection or umbilical cord prolapse. Therefore, after the water breaks, no matter what the occasion, you should lie down immediately to prevent the amniotic fluid from flowing out. You can use sanitary napkins to play a protective role. If there is no sign of labor within 6 to 12 hours after water breaking, in order to prevent bacterial infection, the doctor will use oxytocin to help the pregnant mother enter the labor process and start delivery.
