What are the side effects of yam? Things to note when eating yam

We all know that yam is a very good food and almost every household eats it. Some people like to fry it, and some people like to stew it in soup. Anyway, no matter what, it is very effective. So does yam have any side effects?

Side Effects of Chinese Yam

Yams are rich in nutrients and are the food of choice for those who pursue a health-conscious lifestyle. However, as the saying goes, even the most delicious food can cause serious harm to the body if eaten in excess or improperly. The same is true for yams. Although they are good for health, they can still cause side effects if you are not careful.

Although yam itself is very mild, because it contains estrogen, if consumed in excess, it may over-stimulate hormones and cause endometrial hyperplasia, resulting in symptoms such as irregular menstruation, continuous menstrual bleeding, and menstrual pain.

At the same time, it is not recommended for people suffering from cold, fever, excess pathogenic factors and gastrointestinal stagnation.

Things to note when eating yam

1. The saponins contained in the yam skin or the phytoalkaloids contained in the mucus may cause yam allergy and itching in a few people. Direct contact should be avoided when handling yam.

2. It cannot be eaten raw, because raw yam contains certain toxins.
