Causes of athlete's foot in traditional Chinese medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine can treat athlete's foot, because athlete's foot is caused by the growth of bacteria on the soles of the feet due to long-term wearing of non-breathable shoes, which causes the soles of the feet to smell. We can treat it by soaking the feet in mugwort. In addition, traditional Chinese medicine treats athlete's foot by soaking the feet with medicinal materials to kill the bacteria and achieve the purpose of treating athlete's foot. Now let us learn about the treatments for athlete's foot in traditional Chinese medicine, and then choose medicinal materials for treatment.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that athlete's foot is mainly caused by dampness, and the treatment mainly adopts foot soaking with medicine that clears away heat and dampness.

The Chinese medicine method of treating feet with soaking feet is equivalent to foot massage. It can not only kill fungi, but also kill bacteria, etc., and play a role in treatment and health care. Patients with mild symptoms can go to the pharmacy to buy Chinese medicine and boil it in water for treatment. For example, take 30g each of Scutellaria baicalensis, Sophora flavescens, and Phellodendron amurense, add a little more water, boil for 30 minutes, and then soak your feet after the water drops to warm temperature. If there is erosion or exudation on the sole of the foot, add 30g each of alum and Glauber's salt and cook together. After soaking your feet for about fifteen minutes, dry your feet, especially between your toes.

There are also many folk remedies for treating athlete's foot using traditional Chinese medicine.

(1) Grind any one of the following: alum, phellodendron, gallnut, or cuttlefish bone into powder and set aside. Then wash your feet and sprinkle it on the affected area. Suitable for erosive athlete's foot.

(2) Take 30g each of Sophora flavescens, Dictamni, Portulaca oleracea, and Plantago, and 15g each of Atractylodes lancea and Phellodendron amurense. Decoction and wash the affected area 1-2 times a day. It is very effective for blister-type athlete's foot or when there is infection.

(3) Take any one of Impatiens balsamina, 30 grams of sapodilla, or 15 grams of Sichuan peppercorns, and put them into half a pound of vinegar. Soak for a day and then soak your feet in it for 20 minutes every night before going to bed. Continuing treatment for 7 days is effective for keratotic athlete's foot.

However, patients should be careful when choosing a foot soaking remedy for athlete's foot. If the medicine is highly irritating or contains alcohol, do not use it to soak feet that are already obviously rotten, and do not use it to wipe the face and genitals where the skin is thin, otherwise it will easily damage the skin and cause ulcers. Traditional Chinese medicine is very effective in treating athlete's foot, but it is troublesome to cook it yourself, and the effect is slow. Western medicine is relatively convenient and effective quickly.

The root cause of athlete's foot

At present, medicine basically believes that athlete's foot is tinea pedis, which is mainly caused by fungal infection and is highly contagious through contact. It also has a series of aliases, such as rotten feet and athlete's foot.

The latest research shows that the above conclusions are all wrong. Because the pathology of athlete's foot is characterized incorrectly, this is the main reason why athlete's foot is difficult to cure. The current unified medical treatment for athlete's foot is to sterilize and disinfect the affected skin. Facts have proved that this method can never effectively treat athlete's foot. In order to better understand the nature of athlete's foot, we raise the following questions:

1. The patient population of athlete's foot is highly uniform and specific: almost all of them are adult males, accounting for more than 95% of the total patient population. Adult men living in the humid southern region, whose staple food is refined rice, are at high risk of athlete's foot. The term "Hong Kong foot" comes from the name given to athlete's foot by Hong Kong people, which shows that the proportion of adult men suffering from athlete's foot in Hong Kong is high. The area where people eat pasta comes second. The Mongolians, Xinjiang people, Tibetans, and people in Europe and the United States, who drink a lot of milk and eat meat as their staple food, have a very low incidence of athlete's foot. No matter where children and women live or what their staple food is, the rate of suffering from athlete's foot is very low.

2. Specific parts: The affected area of athlete's foot is the toes. It should be noted that this is a special skin area, which is the junction or transition zone between the pore skin and the fibrous skin. Why does athlete's foot choose this part? Even though the toes are a relatively humid area, it meets the conditions for fungal parasitism and reproduction. So when wearing shoes, the entire foot is in a relatively humid and hot environment that is very suitable for the growth of fungi, especially the sole of the foot is porous skin, which should be more suitable for the parasitism of tinea. Why don't the soles of the feet suffer from athlete's foot? If athlete's foot is tinea pedis, it should be known that tinea is highly contagious and has strong vitality. Once the skin comes into contact with the affected area of tinea, any part of the skin may be infected, but the only areas that will not be infected are the fibrous skin (palms, soles) and the lips (mouth).

What is the basic cause of athlete's foot?

A large number of people who drink milk and eat meat do not have serious vitamin deficiency, so the incidence of beriberi is very low. Children have a strong ability to metabolize nutrients. Due to differences in endocrine structure, women have significant physiological differences from adult men, and the incidence of athlete's foot is not high. It is obvious that adult males who mainly eat refined rice as their staple food are obviously deficient in vitamin A. The sub-health of the special skin area at the toes is caused by some metabolic disorder of nutrients in this skin area, which makes it lose its resistance to fungi. It is because of this root point that fungi can parasitize here and breed and cause disease. Because of this, it can be infected and contaminated by fungi.

This phenomenon is not an isolated phenomenon in the human body, such as recurrent oral ulcers. It was also discovered that a partial lack of vitamin B in the oral mucosa causes a loss of immunity (resistance) to the oral ulcer virus. Directly deliver nutrients to the oral mucosa or activate its nutrient metabolism ability, restore immunity, and the ulcer virus will die out on its own. Obviously, only by improving the nutritional metabolism capacity of this special skin area of the toes and restoring the resistance to fungi can the fungi be eliminated on their own. It's just like the reason why flies don't bite seamless eggs.
