Can iodine cure balanitis?

Povidone-iodine is a relatively common topical medication. It has a good anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effect. If you have balanitis, you can also use povidone-iodine to treat it. First, clean the glans with saline, and then wipe the area with a medical alcohol cotton swab dipped in povidone-iodine. We know that the most common cause of balanitis is foreskin that is too long, so if you want to completely cure balanitis, it is best to perform circumcision in time.

Effective treatment for balanitis

1. If pus discharge has occurred during the treatment of balanitis, you can wipe off the pus first, and then soak the affected area in diluted Alic for about a quarter of an hour. Even if balanitis is cured, it does not necessarily mean that the inflammation will not recur. Therefore, the most permanent way to deal with balanitis is to undergo circumcision, so that neither balanitis nor balanitis will affect you again. 2. When using drugs to treat balanitis, if the inflammation is not just beginning, it is best to take oral or topical medications while also conducting intravenous treatments. This can prevent further aggravation of inflammation and lead to erosion or pus discharge.

3. Keep the area clean and avoid irritation. Local treatment is also very important. For those with dryness and desquamation, apply corticosteroid ointment. Erosive exudate as the main symptom. The ulcer surface is dressed daily and physical therapy is performed. 4. How to treat balanitis? For those with clear causes, special treatment should be given to the causative factors. For example, allergic balanitis requires oral anti-allergic drugs and topical cortisone ointment. 5. For those with excessive foreskin, circumcision should be performed after the acute inflammation is controlled.

If the cause is clear, appropriate drug treatment should be given.

For example, for candidal balanitis, you can apply topical nystatin cream, clotrimazole, econazole, miconazole cream, or oral antifungal drugs such as itraconazole, fluconazole, miconazole, and ketoconazole. Metronidazole, tinidazole, and trichostatin can be used to treat trichomoniasis. For amebic balanitis, give emetine, metronidazole, and tinidazole. If your spouse also suffers from candidal vaginitis or trichomoniasis, they must be treated at the same time.
