What medicine can remove closed comedones?

Young people nowadays pay special attention to their image. Therefore, if they have closed comedones on their faces, they would like to remove them in order to restore a smooth and flawless face. Closed comedones are a type of skin disease that is caused by clogged pores. In the later stages of closed comedones, they will develop into red and swollen pimples, which look very ugly. So, what medicine can get rid of closed comedones?

Drugs for treating closed comedones are divided into external medications and internal medications. Topical medications mainly include: antibiotics, keratolytics, etc. Oral medications mainly include: antibiotics such as 4-cycline drugs and metronidazole and tinidazole; retinoids; anti-androgen drugs; traditional Chinese medicine, etc.

1. Antibiotics

This type of drug is less irritating to the skin, so it can be effective for mild inflammatory closed comedones. However, after repeated contact with drugs, bacteria may develop drug-resistant bacteria, which will reduce the efficacy of antibiotics or even make them ineffective. Therefore, it is recommended to use antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide topically together to reduce the occurrence of drug resistance and achieve the effect of effectively treating closed comedones.

Recommended ointments: Chlortetracycline ointment, erythromycin ointment, neomycin cream, and compound dexamethasone cream.

Precautions: Use with caution if you are allergic; stop using the drug if you experience stinging, redness, swelling, itching, etc., and clean the area where the drug is applied. If you still feel discomfort, consult a doctor immediately; pregnant women should use the drug with caution, and breastfeeding women should stop breastfeeding if they must use the drug.

2. Benzoyl peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide drugs have good antibacterial effects, and the use of this type of drug can effectively dissolve acne, accelerate skin metabolism, and are very effective in treating inflammatory closed comedones.

Recommended ointments: Benzoyl peroxide gel and compound closed comedones ointment.

Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes, lips and oral mucosa; use with caution if you are allergic; there may be local adverse reactions such as mild itching, stinging, mild erythema and peeling, but it will not affect continued use of the medication.

3. Honeysuckle: Honeysuckle contains luteolin, which can play an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory role, and can also allow the sebum in the skin to be discharged normally, thereby preventing the formation of closed comedones. Therefore, people with closed comedones can often drink honeysuckle tea.

4. Sophora flavescens: Sophora flavescens has the effects of clearing heat and dampness, killing insects and acting as a diuretic. It can regulate the body from the inside, clear away heat and detoxify, thereby improving the problem of closed comedones.
