Pseudo epileptic seizure symptoms

Pseudo epileptic seizure symptoms

The progress of today's society is not only the rapid development of the economy, but also the rapid development of culture and other aspects. However, behind these developments there are also great dangers. Various types of pollution have caused people to suffer from diseases, and the treatment of diseases has become increasingly difficult. Pseudo-epilepsy is a disease that is very difficult to treat. Epilepsy not only brings trouble to the patient's life, but also brings great distress to the patient's family.

Pseudo-seizures refer to epilepsy-like symptoms without abnormal discharges in the brain. It is difficult to make a diagnosis in the emergency room. For some patients, an effective method is to distract the patient by shouting or using bright lights, which can quickly stop the epileptic seizure. If the patient can have an EEG, a diagnosis can be made (not often used in the emergency room). During a pseudoseizure, no abnormal discharges can be observed. At the same time, the detection of serum prolactin 20 minutes after the "epileptic" attack can distinguish between true epilepsy and pseudoepileptic seizure. In true epilepsy, serum prolactin levels must be at least doubled, while in pseudoepileptic seizures, prolactin disorders remain within the normal range. Obviously, no method is suitable for the emergency room, because pseudoepileptic seizures often occur in patients with underlying "true" epilepsy and can rarely be diagnosed in the emergency room.

As early as more than 2,000 years ago , ancient China had known about epilepsy. The word epilepsy is given a precise definition in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine: "epilepsy" means madness, indicating the disorder of consciousness during an attack; "epilepsy" means convulsion, indicating the convulsive state during an attack. Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history of treating epilepsy. During the epileptic attack period, the first thing to do is to treat the symptoms, control the attack, and relieve the patient's critical state of fainting and convulsions as soon as possible. The treatment method should be to clear phlegm and open the orifices, extinguish wind and stop convulsions. Choose the treatment with fast and strong effects, and adopt different treatment approaches. During the dormant or remission period, the condition tends to ease. At this time, we should follow the principle of treating the root cause when the condition eases, carefully and meticulously differentiate the symptoms, identify the location and nature of the disease, and treat them accordingly. The overall treatment method is to strengthen the spleen and resolve phlegm, nourish the liver and kidneys, nourish the heart and calm the mind, eliminate the source of phlegm and wind, treat the root cause, and prevent the recurrence of the disease. At the same time, we will make a diagnosis and treatment based on the comprehensive clinical manifestations. If the evil is real, we will mainly attack it; if the evil is weak, we will strengthen the body. To attack evil, methods often used include extinguishing wind, purging fire, activating blood circulation, and clearing phlegm. To strengthen the body, methods often used include nourishing the liver, strengthening the spleen, nourishing the heart, and replenishing the body. However, when the evil is real and the body is weak, we should focus on strengthening the body while attacking the evil. When the body is weak and there is external evil, we should focus on strengthening the body while eliminating the evil to achieve the ultimate goal of eliminating the evil and calming the epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a chronic brain disease characterized by paroxysmal central nervous system dysfunction caused by abnormal discharges of brain neurons. It is characterized by sudden onset and repeated attacks. Pseudo-epileptic seizures, also known as hysterical seizures, may have symptoms of epileptic seizures such as movement, sensation, automatism, and confusion. However, the two also have their own unique symptoms, which mainly include the following.

1. Different occasions of seizures. Epilepsy can occur in any occasion, and the seizures may be sudden or stereotyped. Pseudo-epileptic seizures are often caused by mental factors, with the presence of other people, and the forms of seizures are diverse.

2. Different eye positions: During an epileptic seizure, the upper eyelid is lifted, and the eyeball moves up or turns to one side; during a pseudo-epileptic seizure, the eyelid is tightly closed, and the eyeball moves around.

3. Different pupil manifestations: During an epileptic seizure, the pupil is dilated and the light reflex disappears; during a pseudo-epileptic seizure, the pupil is normal and the light reflex exists.

4. Different changes in facial color: During an epileptic seizure, the patient's face becomes cyanotic; during a pseudo-epileptic seizure, the patient's face becomes pale or red.

5. Duration and termination method: An epileptic seizure lasts for 1 to 2 minutes and terminates automatically; a pseudo-epileptic seizure can last for several hours and requires comfort or suggestive treatment to terminate. In addition, epileptic patients may experience tongue biting and urinary incontinence; pseudo-epileptic seizures are generally
