Why does my skin hurt when I touch it?

Why does my skin hurt when I touch it?

Skin is the largest organ in the human body and covers the entire body. If the human body is regarded as the earth, then the skin is the earth's ozone layer. The skin can effectively prevent sunburn, resist ultraviolet rays, protect human organs, prevent water loss, etc. Some people experience pain when their skin is touched. In this case, people need to understand the cause. Here we will explain why the skin hurts when it is touched.

Causes of skin pain

Herpes zoster is an acute skin and mucosal infectious disease caused by varicella-zoster virus. Clinically, it is characterized by sudden onset of herpes, which is distributed along nerve bands, unilaterally, and in dense clusters. It is painful and rarely recurs after recovery. The disease is not very contagious. Herpes zoster patients cannot directly spread the herpes zoster virus, but they can cause chickenpox epidemics among susceptible populations. The transmission route is still "skin-air-respiratory tract". The clinical manifestations of infection in children are varicella, and in adults it is herpes zoster, which is more common in the elderly and those with immunodeficiency. Local trauma, some systemic diseases, acute and chronic infectious diseases, and poisoning are common precipitating factors.

Shingles is a common disease. It is more common in spring and autumn, and may be preceded by prodromal symptoms such as fever and general discomfort. The skin on the affected side begins to feel burning and painful, and local tension increases. Subsequently, irregular erythema and clusters of herpes appear on the skin. These are millet-sized transparent blisters surrounded by red halos. They scab and fall off in 7 to 10 days, and most of them heal in 2 to 4 weeks. It can invade the facial, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar nerves. 15% to 20% invade the trigeminal nerve. In rare cases, it can invade motor nerves such as the facial nerve. Severe cases may be complicated by pneumonia and meningitis. Depending on the nerves invaded, the herpes is distributed in a characteristic band-like pattern, mostly unilaterally and not beyond the midline.

If herpes zoster is not treated promptly, it often causes neuralgia and is difficult to heal.

Preventive Care

1. Strengthen physical fitness and improve disease resistance. The elderly should adhere to appropriate outdoor activities to enhance their physical fitness.

2. Prevent infection. Infection is one of the causes of this disease. Elderly patients should prevent infection from various diseases, especially in spring and autumn when the weather alternates between cold and warm. They should add or remove clothes as appropriate to avoid upper respiratory tract infections caused by cold.

3. Prevent trauma. Trauma can easily reduce the body's disease resistance and lead to the occurrence of this disease. Elderly patients should be careful to avoid trauma.

4. Avoid contact with toxic substances. Avoid contact with chemicals and toxic drugs to prevent damage to the skin, affect physical health and reduce the body's resistance.

5. Improve nutrition. The elderly should pay attention to the nutrition of their diet, eat more soy products, fish, eggs, lean meat and other protein-rich foods and fresh fruits and vegetables to keep their physique strong and prevent various diseases that are directly or indirectly related to this disease.

After the above introduction, I believe many patients must have a better understanding of the causes, prevention, treatment and care of skin surface pain. Therefore, after a comprehensive understanding, you must go to a large hospital as soon as possible to find out the cause of the disease. Only through comprehensive treatment can you get rid of this disease as soon as possible and ensure the health of your skin.
