How to solve the defecation problem for bedridden patients

How to solve the defecation problem for bedridden patients

Bedridden patients often have weakened digestive function and weakened gastrointestinal motility, which often leads to constipation. This is quite harmful to patients. When bedridden patients defecate, if they are conscious, they can use a flat bedpan on the bed. Male patients can use a chamber pot to urinate. For patients with incontinence, they must clean up in time to prevent infection and urinary tract inflammation.

How to solve the defecation problem for bedridden patients

Paralyzed patients spend most of their time in bed. Keeping the bed clean, dry and flat and solving the problem of urination and defecation are crucial issues.

If the patient is conscious and can report the need to urinate or defecate, a flat bedpan can be used to urinate on the bed (male patients can use a urinal). When defecating, the patient lies on his back with a small cloth sheet (or large diaper) under his buttocks to prevent contamination of the bed sheets. The patient's buttocks are lifted up and the bedpan is placed under the buttocks, with the flat end placed on the sacrum and coccyx and the open end facing downward.

For patients who are bedridden for a long time and suffer from urinary and fecal incontinence, timely anti-infection treatment for infectious diseases should be provided during home care. Good psychological care is essential (for patients and their families), and basic nursing skills are also very important. First, we need to analyze the patient's age, condition, cause of incontinence, time (morning, evening), etc., and formulate a personalized care plan based on the analysis. We can also use tools such as adult diapers.

Nowadays, many families use electric nursing beds with bedpan functions because it is too troublesome to take care of paralyzed patients. This allows paralyzed patients to easily solve their urination and defecation problems without having to go through the trouble mentioned above. Nursing beds are divided into manual and electric. Electric ones are definitely more convenient than manual ones. Electric nursing beds can generally be used by patients themselves, while manual ones require family members to rock them for the patients.

The other functions of the paralyzed patient care bed are also particularly suitable for paralyzed patients. Only one remote control is needed to achieve actions such as sitting up, turning over, and bending legs, which is not only convenient for patients but also for caregivers.

How to solve constipation in bedridden patients

Everyone knows that honey, bananas, milk and other foods are foods that promote bowel movements. For bedridden patients, they must make sure that the food they eat will not worsen their condition before they can eat it. You should have a balanced diet and eat more whole grains such as corn, oats, brown rice, etc. Whole grains are rich in inorganic salts and dietary fiber. Inorganic salts can meet the body's daily metabolism, and dietary fiber can promote gastrointestinal motility, help clear intestinal toxins, and expel stool.

Celery, cabbage and other green vegetables are also rich in dietary fiber. If you are constipated, avoid eating greasy food, as it will aggravate constipation. Bedridden patients should drink more water on a daily basis. It is recommended that they drink water from a health water cup. The physical effect of micromagnetic resonance can break up water molecules, allowing them to gain better permeability and solubility, dissolve cellular metabolic waste in the body, and excrete them through urine. The health water cup can help clear intestinal toxins, remove stool, and improve constipation. For bedridden patients, drinking water every day is detoxification. Once the toxins are eliminated, constipation will be solved.

The daily life of bedridden patients needs special care. Constipation is very painful for bedridden patients, so they need the help of their family members. They can return to normal in a few days by soaking their feet and controlling their diet. If the condition is serious, they need to seek medical attention in time.
