Is a mild cerebral infarction serious?

Is a mild cerebral infarction serious?

Mild cerebral infarction refers to a type of cerebral infarction in which the symptoms are not obvious and the harm to the human body is not serious. However, we cannot ignore its treatment and prevention. If mild cerebral infarction is not treated promptly or thoroughly, it may cause other diseases. In addition, if it is multiple, it may affect brain function to a certain extent. Moreover, the underlying disease of cerebral infarction requires long-term intervention and treatment.

1. Concept

Mild cerebral infarction is a special type of cerebral infarction. It is caused by occlusion of tiny arteries deep in the brain on the basis of hypertension and arterial infarction, leading to ischemic softening of brain tissue. The lesion size is generally 2-20 mm, with 2-4 mm being the most common.

2. Causes

It is often related to factors such as high blood lipids, high blood sugar and high blood pressure.

3. Hazards

If mild cerebral infarction becomes multiple, it can affect brain function, lead to progressive intellectual decline, and finally cause cerebrovascular dementia. In mild cases, there may be no symptoms at all, or there may be repeated episodes of limb paralysis or dizziness, or even acute coma and death.

Symptoms

(1) Subjective symptoms include headache, dizziness, vertigo, nausea, vomiting, motor and/or sensory aphasia, and even coma.

(2) Cranial nerve symptoms include staring toward the side of the lesion, central facial paralysis and tongue paralysis, and pseudobulbar palsy, such as choking when drinking water and difficulty swallowing.

(3 ) Physical symptoms include hemiplegia or mild hemiplegia, hemisesthesia, unsteady gait, limb weakness, incontinence, etc.

IV. Treatment

1. Mild cerebral infarction can be cured. If the range of cerebral infarction is not large, the function of the affected area can be compensated by the surrounding normal brain tissue. As long as you pay attention to rehabilitation training as soon as possible, you can recover well. The earlier you start training, the better the results. You can do simple exercises in bed while you are still in the hospital.

2. Mild cerebral infarction is generally caused by diet and bad living habits. Therefore, when diagnosed with mild cerebral infarction, you need to listen to the doctor's advice, receive treatment in time, improve your diet and lifestyle, and change some bad habits to facilitate treatment.

5. Prevention

1. For patients with hypertension, blood pressure should be controlled at a reasonable level. Because high blood pressure can easily cause rupture and bleeding of microaneurysms and atherosclerotic arteries in the brain, while low blood pressure can easily cause incomplete blood supply to the brain and stagnation of microcirculation, which can easily lead to cerebral infarction. .

2. Pay attention to mental health. Many cases of cerebral infarction are related to emotional excitement.

3. Pay attention to changing bad living habits; moderate physical activity is good for your health. Avoid bad habits such as smoking, alcoholism, overeating and binge drinking. The diet should be low in fat, calories, and salt, and contain sufficient protein, vitamins, fiber, and trace elements.

4. When the temperature changes suddenly and the air pressure and temperature change significantly, the middle-aged and elderly people, especially the weak and sick, are mostly unable to adapt and become ill. Especially in severe cold and midsummer, the elderly have poor adaptability and reduced immunity, and the incidence and mortality rates are higher than usual, so you must be especially careful.
