Brown leucorrhea, odorless, painless and itchy

Normal leucorrhea of women is a colorless or white odorless liquid. Leucorrhea is mainly some substances of the vaginal mucosa, which are discharged from the body through the cervical opening and some secretions in the uterus. Leucorrhea is generally greatly affected by hormones. With the changes in the menstrual cycle, there will be some changes in leucorrhea. For example, the amount of leucorrhea will increase during ovulation. Why is the leucorrhea brown, odorless, painless and itchy?

Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea should be transparent and shiny, white, paste-like or egg white-like, with viscosity, small amount, and no fishy smell. It has no adverse effects on women's health and is called physiological leucorrhea.

Common types of abnormal vaginal discharge

Colorless, transparent, sticky leucorrhea: It is egg white-like and has properties similar to the mucus secreted by the cervical glands during ovulation, but the amount of secretion is significantly increased compared to usual. Generally, the possibility of chronic endocervicitis, ovarian dysfunction, vaginal adenosis, or well-differentiated cervical adenocarcinoma should be considered.

White or grayish yellow foamy leucorrhea : It is a characteristic of Trichomonas vaginitis and may be accompanied by vulvar itching.

Curd-like leucorrhea: a characteristic of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching or burning pain.

Gray homogeneous fishy leucorrhea: thin, small to large amounts, unpleasant odor, common in bacterial vaginosis.

Purulent leucorrhea: yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky, and often has a foul odor. It can be caused by acute vaginitis, cervicitis, and endocervicitis caused by bacteria such as Trichomonas or gonococci. Pyometra, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer or foreign objects retained in the vagina can also cause pus-like leucorrhea.

The leucorrhea is brown. Although there is no itching or odor, you should still be alert to gynecological inflammation, such as vaginitis, cervicitis, etc. It is recommended that you go to the hospital for an examination, test the routine leucorrhea, and take a colposcopy to see what infection is caused and whether there is cervical erosion. Generally, cervical erosion is prone to brown secretions and bloody leucorrhea. It is best to treat the symptoms according to the infection and do not take medicine indiscriminately.
