Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are tumors in the digestive tract due to some cellular reasons. If these tumors are not cleaned or treated, they will cause serious diseases in the human body. The medical imaging of gastrointestinal stromal tumors looks similar to gastric ulcers. It will cause frequent pain in the stomach, as if something is pressing on the digestive tract. So, can gastrointestinal stromal tumors be cured? Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are defined as tumors that occur mainly in the digestive tract and contain spindle cells rather than ordinary epithelial cells. The so-called stromal tumor is a new concept proposed in recent years. It is also called gastrointestinal stromal tumors, or gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Because the origin and location of the tumor are unclear, it is mostly defined as interstitial between the stomach and intestines. The clinical manifestations are similar to gastric ulcers, which are not typical and have some black stools. They are often accompanied by abdominal pain and pressure. The preferred treatment method is surgical resection. After resection, the chance of tumor recurrence is very high and the growth is fast. Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is defined as a mesenchymal tumor that occurs mainly in the digestive tract and contains spindle cells, non-ordinary epithelial cells, or two types of cells and shows CD117 activity. The so-called stromal tumor is a new concept proposed in recent years. It is also called gastrointestinal stromal tumor or gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Because the origin of the tumor is unclear and the location is mostly between the stomach and intestines, it is defined as interstitial. The clinical manifestations are similar to gastric ulcers and are not typical. There are some black stools. It is often accompanied by abdominal pain and pressure. The first choice of treatment is surgical resection. The chance of tumor recurrence after resection is very high and it grows quickly. This type of tumor is not sensitive to radiotherapy or chemotherapy. If the patient is in good condition after surgery, conservative treatment with traditional Chinese medicine can be chosen. Regular follow-up examinations should be conducted on target organs such as the stomach and lungs for CT scans or MRI scans if conditions permit to check for metastasis. Currently, Western medicine has only one gene drug ingredient called imatinib, which was launched in 2003 and targets the c-kit gene. It has passed the approval of the US FDA and was mainly developed for leukemia, but is now also suitable for the treatment of stromal tumors. |
