The role and efficacy of Xiaoshanhu

Xiaoshanhu, Mingbuping Yexiangni, [1] Asteraceae green plant, also known as typhoid grass, small family air vegetable, night morning glory, branch thyme, etc., distributed in hillsides, wilderness, edge of the field, roadside, wolf grass has the effects of dispersing wind, clearing heat, detoxifying, removing dampness and removing toxins.

Shape characteristics

Annual or perennial herb, 20 to 100 cm tall. Roots vertical, somewhat woody, branched, with fibrous roots. The stem is upright, usually branched in the upper part, or rarely branched from the tip and spreading, with pattern, covered with dark gray appressed short soft hairs, glandular. The lower and middle leaves are petiolate, rhombus-ovate, rhombus-oblong or ovate, 3-6.5 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, pointed or slightly obtuse at the apex, the tip cuneate-narrowed into a winged petiole, the margin sparsely serrated with acuminate, or wavy, with 3-4 pairs of lateral veins, emerald green above, sparsely hairy, and gray or light yellow short soft hairs along the veins below, with glandular dots on both sides; leaf stems 10-20 mm long; upper leaves acuminate, slender annular-lanceolate or linear, with fine petioles or nearly sessile.

Key use value

The wolf grass of the night-scented cattle mainly contains flavonoids, polysaccharides, phenolic compounds, sesquiterpene lactones and carbohydrate compounds; the root mainly contains steroids and triterpenoids, which have the effects of dispersing wind, clearing heat, detoxifying, removing dampness and detoxifying. It is mainly used to treat exogenous fever, cough, subacute icteric hepatitis, cold and damp diarrhea, secretions, carbuncle, mastitis, rhinitis and centipede bites. [2]

Additional prescription

1. Discharge, adnexitis, cervical erosion, vaginitis

Blood pressure: 30-45 grams of fresh night-scented cattle, 30 grams of clove dream, decocted in water and taken orally.

Take 30 grams of Blood Ox, 15 grams each of Red Root, White Velvet Grass, Wild Papaya and Mulberry Fruit, decocted in water and taken orally.

2. Neurasthenia and insomnia

Take 18 grams of tuberose, 15 grams of scutellaria baicalensis and 9 grams of melaleuca alternifolia, decocted in water and taken orally.

3. Costal neuritis

Take 15 grams each of Tuberose, Hexalobium and 10 grams of Zanthoxylum bungeanum, decocted in water and taken orally.

4. Rhinitis

Blood pressure: Grind the night-scented osmanthus into powder and blow it into the nostrils, or mix it with camellia oil and apply it.

Burn the blood of night-scented cow into charcoal, mix it with camellia oil and apply it.

5. Abdominal bloating

15 grams of night-scented oxalis root and 1 raw egg, boil in water, drink the soup and eat the egg.
