The human body is composed of many organs, tissues and glands. Different tissues have different functions. These things are indispensable. If they are lost or damaged, it will seriously affect our lives. The human body has many glands, but the most important ones are divided into eight large glands. These glands control various activities of our body. Their functions are also very important. So what are the functions of the eight major glands? 1. Pituitary gland: secretes growth hormone. If the secretion of growth hormone is too high, gigantism will occur, and if the secretion is too low, dwarfism will occur. It regulates the growth and development of the human body and other endocrine organs, that is, all endocrine glands are controlled by the pituitary gland. It is the commander-in-chief of the glands and directs the work of various departments. If we compare the pituitary gland to the commander-in-chief, the other glands are the soldiers. If there is a problem with the commander, the soldiers will not work normally. If the commander is normal but there is a problem with the soldiers, hormones will not be secreted normally, which will eventually lead to endocrine disorders. Therefore, for endocrine system to be normal, the commander and soldiers must work normally together. 2. Pineal gland : regulates the body's "biological clock" (1) controls sleep. Normal people work during the day and sleep at night, but now many people cannot sleep during the day or at night, and even when they fall asleep, they are still watching TV series live, which is insomnia; (2) Control the menstrual cycle so that it lasts about 28 days. The pineal gland secretes melatonin. Anyone who wants to whiten and remove spots must nourish the pineal gland. Melatonin can also regulate the quality of sleep. 3. Thyroid gland: It is the overall supervisor of the body's metabolism. The speed of the body's metabolism is determined by the thyroid gland, so the metabolism of spots, fat, and toxins in the human body is closely related to the thyroid gland. Therefore, people who want to lose weight, remove spots, and detoxify must regulate their thyroid gland. The normal metabolism of menstruation is also inseparable from the supervision of the thyroid gland. (Clinical findings show that people with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism will have less menstruation or premature menopause, so people with irregular menstruation also need to regulate their thyroid gland); 4. Parathyroid gland: regulates blood calcium level. If the blood calcium level is unbalanced, osteoporosis, loose teeth, back pain, limb weakness, fatigue of walking will occur. In severe cases, bone pain, fractures, respiratory muscle spasms may occur, leading to suffocation and death. 5. Thymus: One of the central immune organs, the thymus secretes lymphocytes, which are a type of immune cell. If the secretion decreases, the immunity will be low. 99% of chronic diseases are caused by low immunity, so during the SARS period, doctors would give patients thymosin to improve their immunity. 6. Pancreas: secretes insulin. Abnormal secretion of insulin will lead to diabetes or low blood sugar. 7. Adrenal glands: (1) Secrete adrenaline, cortisol, etc., known as the pressure valve. The body's pressure is regulated by it. If the secretion is abnormal, irregular menstruation, depression, anxiety, irritability, and decreased libido will occur; (2) Regulate water and salt metabolism. If the water and salt metabolism is abnormal, edema will occur. Some people will experience edema when they get up in the morning after sitting or standing for a long time, which indicates that the water and salt metabolism is unbalanced. Therefore, people who experience excessive stress, decreased libido, cold hands and feet, and edema must regulate their adrenal glands. 8. Gonads: Female - Ovaries mainly secrete estrogen, progesterone and a small amount of androgen; Estrogen mainly controls human skin, breast fullness and collagen content. If it is too low, dry skin, wrinkles, and shriveled, atrophied and sagging breasts will occur. Excessive estrogen can cause obesity and cancer. Progesterone is mainly used to balance estrogen and avoid excessive estrogen leading to endometriosis, fibroids, polyps, irregular menstruation, weight gain, breast cancer, and uterine cancer. Androgen is a fat burner and the source of sex. If it is too low, it will lead to sexual indifference, disharmony in marital life, obesity, etc. If you want moist and elastic skin, full breasts, harmonious sex life and a slim figure, you need to regulate your sex glands. |
