Scalp scratches always cause scars

My scalp is itchy and I always want to scratch it. I don’t know if it’s because of my scalp or if I’m using the wrong shampoo. My scalp is itchy and the more I scratch it, the more itchy it becomes. But if I scratch it, my scalp will be scratched. What should I do if my scalp is scratched and scars are left? When you scratch your scalp, you will often find some white flakes of skin scratched from the cracks of your nails. But the more you scratch, the more itchy it becomes, and you will accidentally pick off some blood scabs. What exactly causes this situation?

Normally, the skin on a person's head should not feel itchy or painful. If this feeling occurs, it indicates a pathological reaction. The main reasons for itchy scalp and scabs are seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, lack of hygiene, eating spicy food, etc.

Seborrheic dermatitis, also known as seborrheic eczema, is a chronic skin inflammation that often occurs in areas of sebum secretion. According to research, its onset is related to sebum secretion and local Pityrosporum infection, and often occurs in areas with more sebum and hair, such as the scalp, face, chest, back, armpits, and navel.

The head is where there are many sebaceous glands. The secretion of sebum by the sebaceous glands of the skin is a normal physiological phenomenon. However, if the sebaceous glands are hyperactive, excessive sebum is excreted and accumulates on the skin, coupled with the effect of Pityrosporum, chronic skin inflammation will occur at the accumulation site.

Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp refers to a chronic skin inflammation that occurs on the scalp and begins as mildly flushed patches covered with grayish-white bran-like scales, accompanied by mild itching. As the rash expands, greasy scales can be seen forming map-like patches. There are two main types of scalp damage:

① Scaly type: often presents as erythema or red follicular papules with small pieces of bran-like desquamation, and the hair is dry, soft, sparse or falling off;

② Crusting type: more common in obese people, with thick, flaky, sticky, greasy yellow or brown scabs on the scalp, obvious inflammation under the scabs, erosion and exudation may occur, and may occur in multiple sebum secretion areas.

In severe cases, hair may fall out and become thinning. Therefore, if your scalp is always itchy and scratched and there is no improvement, you must seek timely treatment!
