What are the sequelae of cerebral contusion?

In life, traffic accidents, falls from heights, etc. may cause physical injuries, especially brain trauma. So what are the sequelae of cerebral contusion and laceration? The degree of cerebral contusion and laceration is different, and the sequelae are different. Severe cerebral contusion and laceration can cause sequelae such as impaired consciousness, paralysis, speech and sensory disorders, etc., which require timely symptomatic treatment to reduce the chance of disability, mortality and sequelae. The recovery time depends on the individual's injury and physical condition.

Seven symptoms to help diagnose brain injury

1. Headache is a common sequelae of brain trauma. Patients often experience a sense of swelling, tearing or throbbing in the head. The onset time is irregular and may be aggravated by insomnia, fatigue, bad mood, noisy environment, etc.

2. Patients are prone to dizziness, such as clouded head, unclear thinking, or confusion.

3. Patients with mild brain trauma are prone to vomiting, pale complexion, irritability or drowsiness and other symptoms. If these symptoms persist for a long time, they should seek medical attention as soon as possible for further evaluation.

4. In addition, patients also have symptoms such as emotional instability, fatigue, insomnia, lack of concentration, memory loss, tinnitus, palpitations, blood pressure fluctuations, sweating, decreased sexual function or menstrual disorders.

5. Some patients with brain trauma will experience coma of varying lengths, and may also experience drowsiness, confusion, delirium, etc. from coma to awakening. The disturbance of consciousness may be mild or severe and fluctuates.

6. Subdural hematoma caused by brain trauma can cause patients to experience symptoms such as headache, drowsiness, dullness, memory loss, and even dementia in severe cases.

7. Some patients will experience immediate neurological dysfunction and loss of consciousness after head injury. Because the duration is short, they often do not remember what happened after waking up, and many have sequelae of concussion.

When patients experience the above symptoms, they are obvious symptoms of craniocerebral trauma and should be sent to the doctor for treatment as soon as possible to avoid more serious sequelae that threaten their lives.

Many patients suffer from aphasia due to the sequelae of brain trauma, which means that the patient's cerebral cortex language center is damaged, resulting in the loss of language comprehension and expression ability. There are many manifestations of language disorders in patients, which can be roughly understood as the loss of the ability to understand written language, the inability to recall or say the name of an object, or articulation disorders, which refer to the inability to pronounce clearly and accurately. All of these refer to language disorders.

The second most common symptom is agnosia due to brain trauma, but this is a relatively rare symptom. The main presenting symptom is that the patient can see or perceive an object but has difficulty associating it with the object's purpose and function. That is, although patients with this type of disease can see these objects and describe the objects they have seen, they cannot correctly identify these familiar things.
