Can tuberculosis be completely cured?

Tuberculosis is a common respiratory infectious disease, which is very harmful to everyone's health. Therefore, it must be treated early and in time. The current treatment of tuberculosis mainly involves anti-tuberculosis drug treatment. Generally, if treated actively and promptly, most tuberculosis can be controlled, and only a few may relapse. Tuberculosis patients must eat more high-protein foods in their daily lives.

Tuberculosis is completely curable, but because it is a chronic disease, the treatment time is longer. The principles of early, regular, appropriate, combined and full-course treatment must be adhered to. Do not stop or change the medication on your own, as doing so will not only make it difficult to cure the disease, but will also easily lead to drug resistance, increasing the difficulty of cure. In addition, in your daily life, please pay attention to proper nutritional supplements and a healthy diet. Because tuberculosis is a chronic wasting disease, you should eat more foods rich in calories, protein and vitamins. Make sure to rest and get enough sleep. You can do appropriate exercise in your daily life, such as outdoor exercise, and be careful to avoid the influence of strenuous exercise and adverse factors such as fatigue, cold and flu.

There is no survey statistics on how long a person can survive with tuberculosis . In the absence of anti-tuberculosis drugs, pulmonary tuberculosis cannot be effectively treated. Half of patients die within 2-4 years, one quarter of patients develop chronic infectious pulmonary tuberculosis, and one quarter of patients can stabilize the lesions and disappear clinical symptoms through recuperation, but the recurrence rate is very high. Therefore, the prognosis of tuberculosis patients varies greatly from person to person if they are not treated.

The early symptoms of tuberculosis are one of the common symptoms that can occur in many diseases. Tuberculosis is no exception. However, the fever of pulmonary tuberculosis does have its own characteristics: (1) long-term low-grade fever, which usually occurs in the afternoon and evening. The so-called low-grade fever means a temperature below 38°C. The body temperature can return to normal in the early morning. Moreover, many patients may not be aware that they have a fever. Some patients may feel tired and uncomfortable. (2) Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis usually have unstable body temperature. For example, they may feel feverish and tired while working, and their body temperature may return to normal after resting. (3) As the disease progresses, fever becomes apparent, especially when there is other bacterial infection in the lungs. High fever may occur, sometimes reaching 39°C to 40°C. When the body's resistance is extremely low, tuberculosis bacteria may spread throughout the body, and persistent chills and high fever may occur. (4) Women may have fever through blood flow before and after menstruation, but when suffering from tuberculosis, the fever does not return to normal immediately after the menstruation ends.

2. Night sweats. The so-called night sweats means that the patient sweats all over the body when falling asleep or waking up. It usually occurs in children with weak constitutions (sometimes normal children may also have this phenomenon). Patients with more serious lung diseases are more likely to experience night sweats. In severe cases, clothes and quilts can be soaked, and patients feel extremely tired and weak.
