Can genital warts be cured?

Genital warts are a common sexually transmitted disease. Since genital warts are prone to recurrence during treatment, suffering from this disease will not only affect people's lives, but also their physical health. When many patients find that the treatment recurs, they will try all kinds of medical treatments blindly, take some medicines, or go to some irregular hospitals for treatment, resulting in irregular and untimely treatment, which not only delays the disease but also leaves them with heavy debts. So can genital warts be cured?

Genital warts are epidermal tumor-like hyperplasia of the genitals, perineum, anus and other parts (a few occur in the armpits, breasts, mouth, throat and other parts) caused by human papillomavirus infection. They are mostly papilloma-like, cauliflower-like, or cockscomb-like, and are mostly transmitted through unclean sexual behavior. It is a common sexually transmitted disease. The incubation period is generally 3 months.

So, what should you do if you are really diagnosed with genital warts after having unclean sexual intercourse? We recommend that you do not trust some small advertisements and propaganda on the Internet, and easily choose some informal, profit-oriented hospitals for treatment. You may be deceived by the so-called "gene targeted therapy" and "immune induction therapy" which do not exist internationally, and lose a lot of money and delay your condition.

Below we introduce you to the regular treatment methods: 1. Physical therapy: Physical therapy includes laser, freezing, electrocautery, microwave, surgery and so on. Advantages of physical therapy: Physical therapy can be selected according to the location, size, number of warts and the patient's acceptance. For huge warts and those with a tendency to become cancerous, local or auxiliary treatment should be combined with other methods after surgical removal. 2. Photodynamic therapy: Photodynamic therapy is the topical application of photosensitizers such as α-ketoglutaric acid and irradiation of lasers in a specific wavelength to produce superoxide anions locally, thereby destroying warts. Previous clinical data show that the treatment rate of genital warts with Ella photodynamic therapy can reach over 90% after 3-5 treatments, and the recurrence rate is less than 10%. However, traditional treatments are often unable to eliminate latent lesions, resulting in minimal effects and a recurrence rate of more than 40% or even higher. 3. Antiviral treatment: Antiviral treatment such as interferon and interleukin can inhibit viral replication and increase the body's lethality to viruses. 4. Immunotherapy: Low immunity in patients with genital warts can lead to repeated recurrence of warts. Combining physical therapy with immunity-enhancing treatment can reduce recurrences and improve cure rates.

Through the above regular treatment methods, most genital warts can be cured, but the treatment cycle varies. If the patient has few warts, good immunity, proper treatment, and good recovery, it is common to be cured in 2-3 months. However, if the patient has many warts, severe conditions, poor immune function, and untimely follow-up treatment, the disease may be delayed to several months or even more than a year. Clinically, we can even see some patients with HIV infection suffering from recurrent warts that are difficult to heal. Photodynamic therapy is currently the most advanced method and is effective for intracavitary, recurrent, and refractory condyloma acuminatum. Insist on cooperating with the doctor's treatment and paying attention to your lifestyle. It is entirely possible to cure genital warts with the joint efforts of both doctors and patients. I hope you will not have too heavy a psychological burden and choose a regular hospital for patient treatment.
