What are the Chinese medicines for hypoglycemia?

High blood sugar has also become a more serious blood problem that endangers the health of modern elderly people. For patients with high blood sugar, if blood sugar is not controlled in time, it may cause diabetes, and diabetes may be accompanied by a variety of complications. Currently, there are many different medicines to choose from in the treatment of hyperglycemia. Here are some Chinese medicines that can be soaked in water and drunk to lower blood sugar.

1. Astragalus: Pharmacological studies have shown that Astragalus has the effects of strengthening myocardial contractility, dilating coronary blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, protecting liver cells, and lowering blood sugar. In clinical practice, Astragalus is often used in combination with yin-nourishing drugs (such as Rehmannia glutinosa, Scrophularia ningpoensis, Ophiopogon japonicus, etc.) to treat diabetes.

2. Rehmannia root bark: Pharmacological studies have shown that Rehmannia root bark has obvious effects in lowering blood pressure and blood sugar. When rabbits are fed with a decoction of Rehmannia glutinosa, their blood sugar levels will first rise for a short time, and then drop permanently.

3. Coptis chinensis: According to clinical reports, berberine can significantly lower blood sugar in the treatment of diabetes, and the water decoction of Coptis chinensis can lower the blood sugar of normal mice and alloxan-induced diabetic mice. Experiments have shown that berberine's hypoglycemic mechanism does not affect the secretion and release of insulin, nor does it affect the number and affinity of insulin receptors on hepatocytes. Instead, it produces a hypoglycemic effect by inhibiting gluconeogenesis and promoting glycolysis.
