What to do if your ears are blocked due to rhinitis

When rhinitis is more serious, it is easy to cause ear blockage, mainly because nasal secretions flow into the ear canal. If you do not pay attention to certain treatment at this time, it is easy to cause otitis media. If you want to completely cure it, you should use some oral and topical medications to treat it. In daily life, as a rhinitis patient, you must avoid some irritating factors. For example, allergic rhinitis must stay away from allergens.

What to do if your ears are blocked due to rhinitis

The blocked ears caused by sinusitis are caused by nasal secretions from the nasal passages into the inner auditory canal. If the left ear is blocked, hold the right nostril and breathe in hard through the left nostril. If it is on the right side, do the opposite. In addition, it is difficult to suck out the mucus, so you need to suck it more often. For sinusitis, you can consider using a nasal aspirator to slowly treat it. Once the sinusitis is cured, there will be no secretions sticking to the inner ear canal, and the ears will no longer be blocked.

How to cure rhinitis

1. Oral drug treatment: When the drug is taken orally, it enters the gastrointestinal tract for digestion and absorption, and the drug effect is dispersed. The effect is often slow, the treatment cycle is long, the cost is high, and the drug residues remain in the body, which is extremely harmful to the liver, kidneys and other internal organs.

2. Traditional nasal drops treatment: It mainly relieves nasal congestion symptoms in the short term. The principle is to stimulate the contraction of nasal mucosal capillaries through hormones. If it lasts for a long time, it can easily lead to drug-induced rhinitis or allergic rhinitis, and can also cause high blood pressure in young and middle-aged people.

3. External patches and gene therapy: Although acupoint application and gene therapy have different degrees of clinical effectiveness, they either have obvious side effects or have not been in clinical application for a long time. There is a lack of comprehensive understanding of toxic and side effects, the efficacy is still unstable, and the cost of treatment is relatively expensive. The general public dare not try it.

4. Laser, high frequency, and surgical treatment: The effect is good by burning the nasal concha at high temperature, but it causes great damage to the mucosa on the surface of the nasal concha. This treatment has poor effect on hypertrophic rhinitis. The surgical effect is better, but the trauma is very severe, affecting the normal function of the nasal mucosa. The nasal cavity must be blocked after the operation, and patients with allergic rhinitis are extremely painful.

5. General treatment: Try to avoid unnecessary social activities, stay away from tobacco and alcohol, and develop a persistent exercise habit to increase resistance, improve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and strengthen sympathetic nerve function. However, it is important to remember that persistence and gradual progress are the best strategies. Take part in physical exercise regularly to enhance your resistance. Massage your nose frequently, especially if you wash your face with cold water for a long time. During an attack, keep warm. Whenever you sneeze violently, massage the Yingxiang point (near the midpoint of the outer edge of the nose, in the nasolabial groove) until it becomes hot.

6. Avoidance therapy: Avoidance therapy is the most important and basic method for treating allergic rhinitis. It aims to find out the things and objects that are prone to allergic rhinitis in the daily life of patients with allergic rhinitis and try to avoid them. Although it sounds helpless, it is the most important. First, find the allergens. There are two key points in allergic rhinitis: one is allergic constitution, and the other is allergens. Allergic constitution is related to genes and is basically difficult to change. But allergens are different. Although we cannot eliminate all allergens, we can stay away from them. Secondly, keep the room ventilated and clean the house thoroughly regularly to eliminate cockroaches. It is best not to use air conditioning in the room during sensitive seasons. Remember to close windows, reduce the number of times you open windows, and try to use air filters.
