Classification of syndromes and treatments (I) Wind-fire-dampness-heat, external invasion of lips and mouth. The tongue is reddish and the pulse is slippery and rapid. Treatment method: Dispel wind and evil, clear away heat and remove dampness. Prescription: Shuangjie Tongsheng Powder with modifications. Commonly used medicines: Schizonepeta, Saposhnikovia, Menthus, Ephedra, Forsythia, Gardenia, Scutellaria, Gypsum, Atractylodes, Talcum, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Angelica, White Peony, Licorice, Platycodon. (ii) Yin deficiency and blood dryness, malnutrition of lips and mouth symptoms: swollen, dry and cracked lips, oozing water, or even bleeding, painful as if there is no skin, and scabs. The nasal breath is hot and the urine is yellow, red, short and astringent. The tongue is dry and has little rhythm, and the pulse is thin and rapid. . Treatment method: Cool blood and dispel wind, nourish yin and moisten dryness. Prescription: Siwu Xiaofeng Yin with modifications. Commonly used medicines: Schizonepeta, mint, bupleurum, scutellaria, licorice, angelica, chuanxiong, raw rehmannia, red peony root, peony bark, Scrophularia, Ophiopogon japonicus, and Dendrobium.

Other treatments : External application: suitable for clearing away heat, detoxifying, cooling blood and moistening dryness. Apply Coptis chinensis ointment, Zigui oil, and Qingchuikousan ointment to the affected area 3-4 times a day. Or you can mash fresh purslane and hibiscus leaves and apply them externally, twice a day.

Prevention and care 1. Correct bad habits and do not lick, bite or peel off lip dandruff. 2. Reduce the stimulation of tobacco and alcohol, eat less spicy and greasy foods, and avoid exposure to the sun. 3. Take spleen-strengthening and dampness-eliminating products regularly, such as decoctions of coix seed, water chestnut, red bean, etc. 4. Use the floral-scented lip balm and multi-effect repair cream which have the effects of clearing away heat, dampness, dispelling wind and relieving itching for repair and maintenance. 5. Never use thick ordinary lip balm or lip gloss. 6. Do not interrupt treatment as soon as the symptoms improve slightly. The longer you delay, the harder it will be to cure the disease. 7. Do not use hormone ointments to avoid dependence and subsequent hormone-dependent dermatitis.
