What should I do if there is a hole in my tooth that smells bad?

Once bacteria are present in the teeth, disease will occur. If there is a substance called dental plaque inside the teeth, our teeth will slowly turn black, develop holes, and feel painful from healthy teeth. The doctor said this is the tooth decay we heard about when we were children. Tooth decay can cause a large hole in the tooth to decay and is accompanied by a foul odor. How to solve this situation?

Tooth decay is sometimes also called tooth decay, and its scientific name is caries. The main cause of its formation is dental plaque. Plaque is an almost colorless film on the surface of teeth that contains bacteria that cause tooth decay. After each meal, these bacteria in dental plaque react chemically with the sugars or starches in the food to produce acids that corrode the teeth. Over time, the enamel of the teeth will be destroyed, forming small, fragile cavities. If the condition continues to worsen, it will form cavities, which is called tooth decay.

So, tooth decay develops from small cavities. It is not that there are really worms or any other insects, but it is the result of gradual corrosion of the teeth. In severe cases, tooth decay can lead to tooth death and loss. Tooth decay is the decay of teeth. Tooth decay is largely influenced by our lifestyle, what food we eat, whether we pay attention to our dental health, and whether our drinking water and toothpaste contain fluoride. These factors all determine whether we will develop tooth decay. Whether or not you are susceptible to tooth decay is also affected by genetic factors.

Tooth decay (diagnosed as dental caries) is not the result of teeth being literally eaten away by worms. Rather, it is the result of bacteria in the plaque that has long been attached to the tooth surface breaking down sugars in food residues to produce acid. The acid then corrodes and breaks down minerals on the tooth surface, causing defects in the hard tissue on the tooth surface and leading to tooth damage.

If the degree of tooth damage is close to the dental nerve (pulp) in the middle of the tooth, then external cold or hot stimuli will stimulate the dental nerve and cause pain. If the degree of tooth damage has reached the dental nerve, it will cause inflammation of the dental nerve. Since the dental nerve is surrounded by very hard tooth tissue, inflammation of the dental nerve will cause exudation and swelling, and the pressure in the pulp cavity will increase. This pressure will compress the dental nerve and cause more severe toothache.

It is best for us to prevent tooth decay by brushing correctly and cleaning teeth regularly to remove plaque on the surface of teeth. Once tooth decay occurs, it should be filled as soon as possible. If there is no pain, you should see a dentist for examination if you find small black holes on your teeth that cannot be brushed away. If there is pain due to cold or hot stimulation, you should fill the tooth as soon as possible to avoid the tooth damaging the dental nerve. Once the tooth damages the dental nerve, the treatment is more complicated. If you have severe toothache due to inflammation of the dental nerve and it is inconvenient to seek medical attention in time, you can take a small amount of painkillers several times to temporarily relieve the pain. However, painkillers cannot solve the fundamental problem of tooth decay. It is still recommended to seek medical attention in time.

Curing tooth decay does not mean that everything is fine, because both filled and unfilled teeth may suffer from cavities again, so oral hygiene is more important. You can also ask your doctor to help you check if there are any corners that are not brushed cleanly, such as the back teeth, the gaps between teeth, etc. Not only should you brush your teeth every morning and evening, but you must also make sure that every corner is brushed. Everyone's tooth development and oral resistance are different, which makes some people more susceptible to caries.

It is recommended to choose a fluoride-containing and antibacterial toothpaste, such as the Crest Health Expert toothpaste containing stannous-fluoride, a professional dental ingredient, which strengthens tooth enamel while inhibiting the growth of bacteria.
