What causes pain between the breasts?

There are several main factors that cause pain between the chest. The first is cardiovascular disease, followed by pleural disease and chest cavity lesions. These are the main causes of pain between the chest. It is not ruled out that excessive anxiety, coupled with emotional instability, can lead to the occurrence of this disease, which can cause great harm to the body.

Pain in the middle of the chest can be caused by:

Cardiovascular

Heart pain caused by cardiovascular diseases is often more serious, such as coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, pericarditis, etc. It may occur when the amount of exercise is slightly greater, such as walking, exercising, chasing a bus, climbing stairs, etc.; it manifests as compressive, stuffy pain, or even tearing pain in the precordial area and behind the sternum, pale complexion, cold sweat, shortness of breath, or fear of dying. The pain can last for five to ten minutes and can be relieved by resting or taking nitroglycerin tablets. If the pain lasts for fifteen to thirty minutes, it may be a myocardial infarction and you must go to the hospital emergency room immediately to avoid shock.

Pleural diseases

Pleural diseases are also one of the important causes of chest pain, such as pleurisy and spontaneous pneumothorax. The chest pain caused by these diseases is related to breathing and coughing. Generally, the pain in the heart worsens when taking a deep breath or coughing, often accompanied by difficulty breathing, and the chest pain is located on the side of the lesion. In addition, chest trauma, such as fractured or broken ribs, can also cause heart pain. Patients with this type of disease should be hospitalized promptly to relieve pain.

Abdominal lesions

Although the abdominal organs and the heart are not the same organ, they can sometimes send pain information due to the same nerve, causing heart pain, such as subphrenic abscess, acute cholecystitis, acute pancreatitis, acid reflux, etc. If there is a previous history of gastrointestinal disease, this factor should be taken into consideration.

1. Cholecystitis: Pain often occurs when you eat too much, with a feeling of stuffiness and dull pain that lasts for several hours. Surgery is required to remove the gallbladder.

2. Gastroesophageal reflux disease: When you eat too much, lie down or sleep, something comes up, there is a burning and painful feeling in the chest, and a sour taste in the mouth. Standing can relieve the symptoms. You should change your eating habits, avoid overeating and do not lie down after meals; you can also take medicine to control gastric acid secretion.

Anxiety

Excessive mental stress or long-term anxiety can also cause heart pain, which is manifested as pain that lasts for hours or days. The pain may occur anywhere in the chest, with a feeling of stuffiness and shortness of breath. The chest discomfort is often felt when sitting, lying down or without work on hand, but not when working or exercising. This kind of pain is mostly not related to the heart, and you should adjust your mental state.

Chest wall pain

Musculoskeletal pain in the chest wall. The pain is often concentrated in one location and can be clearly pointed out. The pain lasts only one or two seconds and may recur. There is severe stabbing pain in the heart when taking a deep breath, coughing, sneezing or turning around. Most symptoms improve in a few days or two weeks. The ribs may be sprained and inflamed during exercise, which is called costochondritis. Inflammation caused by viruses such as influenza can cause muscle and bone pain throughout the body. Generally, the pain will disappear on its own as the disease heals, or you can take analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor.

No matter what the cause is, you should not panic or speculate alone. It is recommended to go to the hospital for an electrocardiogram when the pain occurs. Only after a clear diagnosis can symptomatic treatment be given.
