Buttocks pain where the injection was given

Buttocks pain where the injection was given

Nowadays, many people think that intravenous drips are a waste of time, so they will directly use small needle injections. Although small needle injections will feel very painful, they can be quickly resolved in a short period of time. At the same time, there is no need to sit aside for a long time to get an IV drip. When the buttocks area where the injection is given is painful, some methods can be used to relieve it, such as light massage, hot compress, etc.

Condition analysis: Hello, if local pain occurs after intramuscular injection, it is a normal reaction. Guidance: Hello, you have received intramuscular injections for 4 or 5 consecutive days. Hence the hip pain. For such problems, just apply a hot towel to the painful area to relieve the pain.

Most people's first reaction may be: "The nurses' technical levels are different." In fact, whether an injection hurts is not only related to the technique. Wang Rulong, chief pharmacist of the Pharmacy Department of Beijing Friendship Hospital, said that the pain during intramuscular injection is different for different injections.

During the interview, the reporter found that when many people recalled the injection process, they remembered the nurse saying: "This needle is a little painful, bear with it!" "This needle doesn't hurt, don't be afraid." In fact, this is because different intramuscular injection drugs have different irritations.

Different drug ingredients have different irritation

Different drugs have different irritations to the human body. For example, penicillin is a widely used antibiotic, which comes in potassium and sodium salts. Generally speaking, the potassium salt of penicillin is more painful than the sodium salt.

As an equally commonly used antibiotic injection, streptomycin is less irritating than penicillin, so the pain when injecting streptomycin will be relatively mild.

Injections using injectable oil are generally less painful

Pharmacist Wang told reporters that since some drugs are not soluble in water, only injection oil can be used when making them into injections. In medical treatment, injectable oils mainly include injectable sesame oil, peanut oil, etc. These oily injections are usually not very painful.

In addition, for some drugs that are poorly soluble in water, a small amount of co-solvents such as benzyl alcohol, propylene glycol, glycerin, etc. are sometimes added. Since benzyl alcohol itself has an anesthetic effect, the injection of an injection with this solvent added will not be too painful; however, glycerin itself is an irritant, and using it as a solvent will make the injection more painful.

A needle that doesn't hurt may not necessarily be good

Children are afraid of pain when getting injections, so in their opinion, a painless injection is a good one; although adults are not afraid of pain, they also feel that no pain is better than pain. However, Pharmacist Wang said that a needle that doesn't hurt may not necessarily be good. Because sometimes, painless injections are due to the addition of too much injection oil, which may cause muscle nodules and chronic pain.

Therefore, for children, try not to get injections if you can take it orally. If you need an injection, you cannot choose it based on whether it hurts or not. Injections should only be given when there is an indication, and you should follow the doctor's decision on what to use.
