Can I remove the IUD during menstruation?

There are many precautions when removing the IUD. You cannot be careless, otherwise it will harm your body. You cannot do it during menstruation because the uterus itself is very fragile during menstruation, and the vagina is prone to infection. Removing the IUD at this time will cause double infection. You should abstain from sexual intercourse within 3 to 5 days after the menstruation is over, and pay attention to care after removing the IUD.

1. If the IUD has reached the prescribed period, you should go to the hospital in time.

Remove the ring to prevent it from deforming or becoming ineffective in the uterus. Generally, metal rings can be stored for 20 years, silicone rubber V-rings can be stored for 7 to 10 years, and copper sleeve T-rings can be stored for 10 to 15 years. A new ring can be put in while removing the ring.

2. Before removing the ring, you should first undergo an X-ray fluoroscopy or "B" type ultrasound examination. For a ring with a tail thread, ask the doctor to dilate the vaginal opening to see if there is any nylon thread outside the uterine opening to confirm that the ring is in the uterine cavity before removing it. The best time to remove the ring is within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over, which can reduce bleeding.

3. Come to the hospital to remove the IUD within 3 to 5 days after your period ends (no sexual intercourse).

4. Take appropriate amount of anti-infection and hemostatic drugs after removing the IUD.

5. If there are obvious changes in the menstrual cycle during menopause, such as the cycle becomes longer or menopause lasts for more than 6 months, the ring should be removed in time.

Preoperative preparation 1. Preoperative examination includes routine blood test, routine leucorrhea test, and B-ultrasound examination.

2. Do not eat or drink for 4 hours before surgery.

3. For postmenopausal women whose uterus has atrophied, they need to take Progynova or Premarin for one week before the operation.

4. For patients with tight cervix, take 0.6 mg of miso before surgery and wait 2 hours before surgery.

Female friends who are preparing to have an IUD inserted during preoperative checkups are very concerned about the precautions after the insertion. In fact, the precautions before removing the IUD are also very important. An X-ray or "B" type ultrasound examination should be performed before removing the ring.
