What is the difference between white beer and dark beer?
Beer is a very popular drink in our life. It is an alcoholic beverage, but its alcohol content is much lower than other alcohols. Therefore, most people can accept the taste of beer, and drinking beer is often a must-have drink in celebrations. There are many types of beer, among which white beer and dark beer are two of the more popular ones. Let’s take a look at the differences between white beer and dark beer.

The differences between dark beer and white beer are as follows: (1) In terms of production: dark beer is mainly made from caramel malt and black malt, with a smaller amount of hops, and is brewed using a long concentrated saccharification process. White beer is made from barley malt (60-70%) and wheat malt (25-40%), sometimes with 5% oats added, and is fermented with brewer's yeast and lactic acid bacteria.

(2) In terms of smell: Dark beer has a prominent malt aroma and a caramel aroma, and is relatively mellow and strong, while white beer has a prominent hop aroma, which is fresh and elegant, and more lively and jumping. (3) Taste: Dark beer has a mellow taste with a slight sweetness. The bitterness of hops is not obvious. It is fragrant and has a soft malt aroma. White beer has a long-lasting foam, thick body, slightly white color, slightly sour, refreshing taste, and rich nutrition. Compared with ordinary beer, it tastes softer and more refreshing. Suitable for drinking in various occasions. Dark beer : also known as strong-colored beer, the liquor is generally coffee color or dark brown, the original wort concentration is 12 to 20 degrees, the alcohol content is above 3.5%, the liquor has prominent malt aroma and malt caramel aroma, the taste is relatively mellow, slightly sweet, and the bitterness of hops is not obvious. The wine is mainly made from caramel malt and rye malt, with a smaller amount of hops, and is brewed using a long concentrated saccharification process.

Baijiu : refers to beer brewed using both barley and wheat malt. Beer brewed with wheat malt is generally lighter in color and sometimes has a cloudy appearance. In northern Germany, there are many varieties of white beer that tend to be lighter in taste. Berliner white beer produced in Berlin is a very special beer. During production, the growth of lactic acid bacteria is promoted in the wort, resulting in a beer with a very strong sour taste. Add fruit syrup when drinking to offset the sour taste.
