What causes ground-glass opacity in the lungs?

What causes ground-glass opacity in the lungs?

When the lungs are inflamed or diseased, ground-glass shadows will be found through examination. This symptom will directly threaten the patient's health, especially the most common pneumonia. The causes of this disease include radiation, chemicals, allergies, etc., and the incidence of this disease is not only very high, but also easy to occur in any season. So how can ground-glass shadows be caused?

First, what causes ground-glass opacity in the lungs? Respiratory tract infection: For those who already have lung disease, respiratory tract infection is an important factor leading to acute onset of the disease and can aggravate the progression of the disease. However, whether infection can directly lead to lung disease is still unclear.

Second, inhalation: inhalation of smoke, irritating gases, certain particulate matter, cotton dust and other organic dust can also promote the onset of lung disease. Animal experiments have also shown that mineral dust, sulfur dioxide, coal dust, etc. can cause lesions similar to human lung disease in animal models.

Third, socioeconomic status: There is a negative correlation between socioeconomic status and the incidence of lung disease, that is, people with lower socioeconomic status have a greater chance of developing lung disease, which may be related to indoor and outdoor air pollution, crowded living spaces, poor nutrition, and other factors associated with lower socioeconomic status.

What causes ground-glass opacities in the lungs? Smoking: Smoking is currently recognized as the most important known risk factor for lung disease. Results from many foreign epidemiological studies have shown that compared with non-smokers, the incidence of abnormal lung function in smokers is significantly higher, and the number of people with respiratory symptoms is significantly increased. Smoke is an extremely acidic substance, which can easily cause acidification of the human body. An acidic body constitution can easily induce cancer. According to a large amount of survey data from various countries, the cause of lung cancer is closely related to smoking. The increase in lung cancer incidence is in parallel with the increase in cigarette sales. Cigarettes contain many carcinogens. The incidence of lung cancer in smokers is 10 times higher than that in non-smokers, and the incidence is even higher in heavy smokers, 20 times higher than that in non-smokers. Air pollution: Long-term living in an area with polluted outdoor air may be an important factor in the development of lung disease. For patients who already have lung disease, severe urban air pollution can make their condition worse.
