Why does bird’s nest have a musty smell?

Bird's nest is a very nourishing food with many benefits. It is very suitable for people who are weak and sickly. Not only that, there are many types of bird's nests, different types of bird's nests have different qualities, and different qualities of bird's nests have different functions. Therefore, we must choose the appropriate one when choosing bird's nest. Today I will explain to you why bird’s nest has a musty smell.

The nesting environment of bird's nests is usually in the mountains or under the eaves, so the bird's nests picked are not dry and will be very humid. After drying, it is normal to have some fishy and musty smells. So if there is a slight gray color, you can gently brush it off with a brush. If it turns all dark gray, it cannot be eaten. Dried bird's nest itself has a faint musty smell, but it is not actually moldy. Check whether there are black spots or mold on the surface of the bird's nest. If not, it is not moldy.

If the bird's nest you bought has a musty smell, you need to take care to preserve it. Put it in a place where it cannot be exposed to sunlight and avoid moisture. Bird's nest with high water content needs to be blown dry before storage, otherwise it will easily become moldy. If there is moisture in the bird's nest, you can put it under air conditioning for one night, or use a fan or dehumidifier to dry it out and the moisture will disappear. Then place it in a cool place away from direct sunlight. After drying, put it in the refrigerator and it can be stored for a long time. Note: After putting it in the refrigerator, turn the bird's nest over from time to time to remove the moisture in the refrigerator. Do not place the bird's nest in the same position in the refrigerator for a long time. You can turn the bird's nest to a different direction from time to time. If you find that the bird's nest is slightly moldy, add a little water to wipe it clean and let it air dry. If the bird's nest is partially moldy and has changed color, just cut off the moldy part and the remaining part can still be eaten normally. If the bird's nest is moldy and turns black, it cannot be eaten because the bird's nest has been eroded by bacteria and the nutrients in it have been lost.

I don’t know if the above introduction is helpful to you. Bird’s nest is certainly a tonic food, but you must eat it reasonably to avoid causing unnecessary problems, especially don’t eat expired bird’s nest. It’s best to pay attention to the shelf life before eating.
