Why does the fetus turn yellow?

In ancient times, there were no medical devices like today, but people were still able to treat diseases dialectically, thanks to the profound Chinese medicine culture. Traditional Chinese medicine has four diagnostic methods: observation, auscultation, questioning and palpation. Among them, observation is the most important. Because in traditional Chinese medicine, if you are sick, there will definitely be some reactions on the surface of your body. For example, if you sweat for no reason, it is very likely related to deficiency. Edema is generally related to the kidneys. The tongue will also reflect various problems with the internal organs. So why does the tongue turn yellow?

Syndrome differentiation in Traditional Chinese Medicine: A yellow tongue indicates internal symptoms and heat symptoms. The darker the color, the more severe the heat. Light yellow indicates mild heat, dark yellow indicates severe heat, and burnt yellow indicates heat accumulation. In exogenous febrile diseases, the turning of the tongue coating from yellow to white is a sign that the external pathogens have entered the interior and transformed into heat. In typhoid fever, it is a Yangming disease, and in dampness diseases, it is a Qi disease. The tongue coating is thin and light yellow, which is usually seen in external wind-heat syndrome or wind-cold turning into heat. So we also need to look at the color of the tongue, the complexion and other physical signs.

The appearance of yellow tongue coating:

First, inflammatory infection: Clinically, various acute infectious diseases, such as meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, severe pneumonia, severe hepatitis, intestinal infection, etc., can all cause yellow tongue coating.

Second, fever: fever is closely related to yellow tongue coating. Because the human body consumes more body fluids when the temperature rises, saliva secretion decreases, and the mouth becomes dry, inflammatory exudates and microorganisms are more likely to stay and multiply on the tongue, causing the tongue coating to turn yellow.

Third, digestive tract dysfunction: patients with digestive system diseases such as chronic gastritis, ulcer disease, and chronic hepatitis may produce sulfides such as sulfur dioxide that overflow along the digestive tract, are adsorbed and deposited by the filiform papillae of the tongue, and cause the tongue coating to turn yellow. There is a high possibility of stomach problems, with symptoms such as yellow tongue coating, bitter mouth and dry throat. The diet should be light and avoid greasy, cold and irritating foods. You can go to the gastroenterology department of the hospital to find out the cause and treat it accordingly.

Yellow and greasy tongue coating: Yellow and greasy tongue coating is called yellow greasy coating in TCM diagnosis. The tongue appearance is yellow and sticky, with particles tightly adhered, like yellow powder applied to the tongue surface. The yellow and greasy tongue coating is formed by the combination of pathogenic heat and phlegm, dampness and turbidity.

Yellow tongue coating indicates heat, greasy tongue coating indicates dampness, phlegm, and food stagnation. The main diseases caused by yellow and greasy tongue coating are: stagnation of damp-heat, phlegm and fluid turning into heat, or food stagnation turning into heat; it also causes exogenous summer heat, damp-heat, etc. Cure heat, eliminate dampness and remove phlegm. In addition, when distinguishing the yellow and greasy tongue coating, attention should also be paid to combining it with the tongue quality. It is common in clinical practice in acute and chronic gastroenteritis. Tongue images of patients with cholecystitis, uremia, etc.
