Will my face shape change if I remove my terminal teeth?

The oral cavity generally does not get sick. The most susceptible part to disease is our back molars, which are also the largest teeth. After the back teeth are extracted, it may affect the face shape. For some people, the back teeth may be red and swollen for a long time, causing the sides of the face to begin to become larger. A few people will experience changes in facial shape after tooth extraction.

Will my face shape change if I remove my terminal teeth?

If the dental arches are growing normally, tooth extraction generally will not have a serious impact on the face shape. Even if you have a tooth extracted, it should be replaced immediately, so it shouldn't affect your face shape. Just one thing, if the teeth are not too protruding, you don’t have to remove them. Artificial teeth are not that good. After all, the original ones are the strongest. In addition, I would like to add that tooth extraction will not make your face longer, unless your teeth have severely pushed your facial flesh out of place. Generally speaking, tooth extraction will not affect the shape of your face, nor will it have the effect of slimming your face. My sister also had a tooth extraction, and there was no improvement or worsening of her face shape. The charges for orthodontic treatment are generally limited to correction. Tooth extraction is charged separately. Sometimes the charges vary depending on the shape and position of your teeth and the difficulty of extraction. Maybe a doctor tells you that tooth extraction is included in the treatment of orthodontic treatment, but "the wool comes from the sheep", it's just that you pay the money first.

There are a few things to keep in mind after tooth extraction:

1. After tooth extraction, you should bite the gauze roll placed on the wound and spit it out after 40 minutes. It is normal for the patient to have blood mixed in his saliva on the day of tooth extraction.

2. If there is active bleeding after tooth extraction and the amount of bleeding is heavy, the patient does not need to be nervous and should return for a follow-up visit immediately and ask the doctor to handle the situation properly. For general bleeding, place gelatin sponge or tannic acid powder, Yunnan Baiyao, etc. on the bleeding area, then bite the gauze roll for 30 minutes and the bleeding will stop. If the bleeding still does not stop after these treatments, the cause must be further investigated before treatment.

1. The local cause of bleeding is gingival laceration. There will be a lot of bleeding at the tear, so the gum tissue should be aligned and sutured. If there are tooth fragments and broken free alveolar bone remaining in the tooth extraction wound, the blood clot in the extraction socket should be scraped off and the foreign body should be removed, and the bleeding will stop. If there is inflammation under the tooth root, there will be a lot of bleeding after tooth extraction. It is advisable to fill the extraction wound with iodine gauze and press it tightly to prevent the gauze from falling off. Anti-inflammatory drugs can also be taken at the same time.

2. Systemic causes of bleeding: People with coagulation disorders will bleed more after tooth extraction. After finding out the cause, in addition to local treatment, systemic diseases should be actively treated.

3. Do not lick the wound with the tip of your tongue or touch the wound with your fingers, and do not stuff the wound with unsterilized paper, cotton, etc. to avoid infection and suppuration of the wound. If a blood clot infection occurs in the alveolar socket, which usually occurs 3-4 days after surgery, the blood clot will turn gray-brown, accompanied by a putrid and foul-smelling secretion. The alveolar bone wall will lose the coverage of the blood clot and become exposed, causing obvious pain. This phenomenon is medically called "dry socket" and should be treated immediately. First wash the wound with a cotton ball filled with 3% hydrogen peroxide or rinse it repeatedly with a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, then place an iodine gauze strip in the tooth socket. You can also add a few drops of eugenol or dicaine to help relieve pain. This method has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and wound healing effects. Change the dressing 2-3 times a week. Generally, new granulation tissue will grow after 4-5 days and the pain will be relieved. As the granulation tissue increases, the pain will gradually disappear.
