Will morning sickness affect fetal development?

Many women experience morning sickness after becoming pregnant. This is a normal part of pregnancy and every woman reacts differently. However, once morning sickness occurs, women themselves will feel that pregnancy is a very difficult thing. But what we are most worried about is the development of the fetus. If the mother is not careful, it will affect the growth of the fetus. So will morning sickness affect fetal development?

Will morning sickness affect fetal development?

Many expectant mothers worry that their morning sickness will affect their nutritional supply. Ye Dunmin said that there is actually no need to worry. Although morning sickness temporarily prevents expectant mothers from maintaining a balanced absorption of nutrients, there is no need to worry too much about the baby's health. Because in the first three months of pregnancy, the fetus is mainly in the stage of organ formation rather than growth and development, so the nutritional needs at this time are relatively less. When the baby's growth and development requires more nutrition after three months, morning sickness will be relieved for most expectant mothers.

When morning sickness is severe, many expectant mothers have no appetite to eat. Ye Dunmin reminded that in this situation, do not force yourself to eat. Expectant mothers can replenish some water and food appropriately when their appetite is better between two periods of morning sickness. Compared with food, water intake is more important. Some expectant mothers may suffer from acidosis due to severe morning sickness or not eating for a long time (he has been practicing medicine for more than 20 years, and among all the pregnant women he has seen, only 2 cases suffered from acidosis due to morning sickness). If an expectant mother feels uncomfortable due to morning sickness, she can go to the hospital for treatment. A urine test can tell whether she has acidosis. If acidosis occurs, it can be relieved by rehydrating with fluids and supplementing with glucose.

1. Eat small and frequent meals. For example, change three meals a day to 5-6 times a day, eating less each time.

2. Stay away from strong flavors. If cooking smells are too strong, increase ventilation in the kitchen and open windows or exhaust fans to keep the air fresh.

3. Morning sickness will be aggravated when you are tired, so you should pay more attention to rest, and it is best to take a short nap at noon.

4. Changes in mood also play a big role, and stress can aggravate morning sickness. Keep yourself calm and don't be too nervous or anxious.

5. Brush your teeth after meals. Brushing your teeth in the early morning often stimulates vomiting, so you might as well eat something before brushing your teeth.

What are the factors affecting morning sickness?

1. Pregnant mother's physique

When the sperm and egg successfully combine to form a fertilized egg and successfully implant in the uterus, it means that the woman has successfully become pregnant. At this time, the woman's body will have some pregnancy reactions such as low fever, loss of appetite, drowsiness, vomiting, etc. Especially during the 8th to 10th week of pregnancy, the pregnancy reaction begins to reach its peak, so this phenomenon occurs. In fact, it is related to the increase in the levels of human chorionic gonadotropin and estrogen in the pregnant mother's body. If the pregnant mother has a good physique and a strong body adaptability, the pregnancy reaction may not be obvious. If the pregnant mother has a poor physique, especially if there is a lot of moisture in the body, the gastrointestinal function may not be very good, which is more susceptible to interference from hormone levels, so the pregnancy reaction may be more obvious.

2. Fetal development

When a woman becomes pregnant, if the fetus develops rapidly, this will accelerate the secretion of estrogen in the mother's body, and the pregnancy reaction may be more intense. In addition, during pregnancy, under the action of estrogen, the placenta will also secrete a large amount of human chorionic gonadotropin, which will inhibit the secretion of gastric acid and affect the activity of digestive enzymes, so pregnant mothers will experience loss of appetite and severe vomiting. If the fetus develops slowly, the amount of estrogen secreted in the pregnant mother's body is relatively small, so the pregnant mother's pregnancy reaction may be smaller and not so obvious.
