Gastritis is a common digestive tract disease, and there are many causes of gastritis. For patients with gastritis, dietary adjustment in daily life is very important. It is necessary to understand some dietary taboos. Patients with gastritis can eat some vinegar appropriately, but be sure to be careful not to eat vinegar directly. Vinegar can be used in cooking, which has the effect of promoting appetite. As a patient with gastritis, try to eat less beans and avoid fried and raw and cold foods.

Can I eat vinegar if I have gastritis?

Drinking a moderate amount every day is good for your body, but it should be diluted with water. If you often have stomach acid, it is best not to drink it. There are many kinds of vinegar, including rice vinegar, balsamic vinegar, white vinegar, bran vinegar, wine vinegar and so on. Vinegar is made by fermenting grains and other materials. Almost all of my country's Henan, Shanxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and northwestern provinces produce vinegar. As a condiment, vinegar can change the nature and taste of a dish, making it delicious. For example, when cooking fish, it can soften fish bones, reduce the fishy smell, and cover up the fishy smell with fragrance. When eating cold dishes, vinegar not only makes them taste good, but also can inhibit the growth of bacteria. Dipping foods with vinegar, such as vinegar garlic, can make them taste more palatable.

What foods should not be eaten when having gastritis?

1. Beans

Beans are notorious for causing digestive upset. The oligosaccharides contained in beans, such as stachyose and raffinose, are fermented by intestinal bacteria and can decompose to produce some gases, which in turn cause symptoms such as hiccups, intestinal rumbling, abdominal bloating, and abdominal pain. Patients with severe peptic ulcers should not eat soy products because soy products are high in purine, which can promote the secretion of gastric juice. Patients with acute gastritis and chronic superficial gastritis should also avoid eating soy products to avoid stimulating gastric acid secretion and causing gastrointestinal flatulence.

2. Raw and cold food

If you eat too much raw and cold food such as ice cream, popsicles, cold drinks, etc., it will affect the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, making the food difficult to digest and easily damaging the spleen and stomach. Although it tastes delicious when you eat it, it will cause a decrease in appetite afterwards and will also stimulate the spleen and stomach, forming a vicious cycle of abdominal bloating and pain.

3. Fried foods

Fried foods like fried chicken nuggets and French fries are inevitably high in oil and fat, and these two substances can cause disease when accumulated in the stomach. When oil is exposed to high temperatures, it will produce a substance called "acrylic acid", which is difficult to digest.

4. Spicy food

Red peppers or jalapenos can irritate the lining of the esophagus, causing unpleasant heartburn after eating them and increasing the burden on the stomach. Even if you want to add some sour cream to make it cooler, you’ll still get the same kick. Also, adding things like sour cream can have other side effects.

5. Pickled foods

People with gastritis have weak stomachs and poor resistance, so they should prevent food from being contaminated by pathogens and parasites, and try not to eat pickled foods.

6. Smoke

Tobacco is a purely yang product, which causes a lot of fire and dryness. People who are prone to changeable behaviors, have excessive yang and excessive qi, or have yin deficiency and fire should not smoke. Nicotine in tobacco can irritate and damage the gastric mucosa, and nicotine can cause central nausea and vomiting, decreased appetite, and promote the reflux of bile from the duodenum into the stomach. Smoking is closely related to the occurrence of lung cancer and gastric cancer.

7. Wine

Alcohol can damage the gastric mucosa and cause it to become inflamed. Excessive drinking can cause congestion, edema, and erosion of the gastric mucosa, and may even cause gastrointestinal bleeding, liver cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, etc. Alcohol can help generate dampness and heat, damage the mind and shorten life. Drinking it for a long time or in excessive amounts can lead to the disastrous consequences of rotting the intestines and stomach, and ulcerating the marrow and steaming the tendons.
