Specific rheumatoid painkillers

Specific rheumatoid painkillers

Rheumatoid arthritis is a relatively serious disease. It is quite harmful to patients. In severe cases, it may lead to self-harm. At this time, it is necessary to receive timely and good treatment. There are many treatment methods. Under the guidance of a doctor, you can use certain medications to control the disease, and then strengthen maintenance to gradually improve the symptoms. When using medication, you must avoid drug abuse.

(I) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. They can relieve pain and swelling in muscles, joints and soft tissues around joints. They are commonly used symptomatic drugs for rheumatism. Drugs are divided into several categories based on their chemical structure, and commonly used ones include ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, etc. The most common adverse reactions are gastrointestinal reactions, and the most serious ones include gastric mucosal ulcers, bleeding, and perforation. Other rare adverse reactions include kidney and liver damage, rash, dizziness, etc.

(ii) Glucocorticoids are the first choice treatment for certain connective tissue diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and dermatomyositis (polymyositis), and have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. In clinical application, the indications and the dosage and usage of the drugs required for each disease should be understood (see individual monographs) to maximize their therapeutic effects and minimize their adverse reactions. (III) Slow-acting antirheumatic drugs (SAARD): These drugs take effect slowly, hence the name. Because SAARD can relieve and prevent the progression of arthritis and connective tissue diseases, it is also known as disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD). This type of drug must be used early in the treatment of arthritis. The SAARDs used for each rheumatic disease are very different. For example, patients with RA should use methotrexate and/or sulfasalazine.

Abuse of painkillers is dangerous

Some patients with rheumatoid arthritis believe that pain is not a disease but just a symptom, and often buy painkillers on their own and increase the dosage arbitrarily. They do not know that painkillers are only a temporary solution and can relieve joint swelling and pain to a certain extent but cannot relieve tissue damage and deformation of joints. Abuse of painkillers may also cause symptoms such as stomach pain, indigestion, gastric ulcers, liver and kidney damage.

Hormones are a double-edged sword

Glucocorticoids are a component of medication for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. They have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect and can quickly and significantly relieve arthritis symptoms and improve joint function. However, long-term use can cause dependence, and the dosage and usage cycle need to be strictly controlled under the guidance of a doctor. Many unproven so-called "secret recipes" or "folk remedies" contain too high a level of hormones. Although they are effective in the short term, long-term use can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis, bone destruction and other diseases, which can cause as much damage to the human body as rheumatoid arthritis itself. Editor's warm reminder: The above is an introduction to the drugs for treating rheumatoid arthritis. I hope that through the editor's introduction, rheumatoid arthritis patients can understand what drugs are available for treating rheumatoid arthritis, choose the right drugs, and ensure the treatment effect.
