Chinese medicine prescription for severe insomnia

Method 1:

9 grams each of bupleurum and costusroot, 12 grams each of white peony root and salvia miltiorrhiza, 6 grams each of sandalwood and schisandra chinensis, 20 grams each of polygonatum and cooked jujube kernel, 30 grams each of polysaccharide sprout, raw dragon bone and oyster. For those with irritability and bitter taste in the mouth, add 8 grams each of Gardenia and Scutellaria; for those with excessive phlegm and chest tightness, add 9 grams each of Tangerine Peel and Arisaema, and remove Polygonatum odoratum and Schisandra chinensis; for dry mouth and constipation, add 12 grams each of Rehmannia glutinosa and Scrophularia ningpoensis; for those who wake up easily, add 4 grams of amber powder and take it with water. Take it in decoction, one dose per day, 7 days as a course of treatment. Indications: Insomnia caused by liver qi disharmony and mental malnutrition

Method 2:

12 grams of raw Rehmannia root, 30 grams of lily, 20 grams of jujube kernel, 10 grams of roasted Polygala tenuifolia, 10 grams of Schisandra chinensis, 10 grams of Ligustrum lucidum, 20 grams of Eclipta prostrata, 10 grams of dragon tooth, and 30 grams of mother of pearl. Decoction in water, one dose per day, twice a day. It is mainly used to treat insomnia caused by deficiency of heart yin and lack of nourishment to the spirit and soul.

Method 3:

10 grams of bamboo shavings, 10 grams of Citrus aurantium, 10 grams of dried tangerine peel, 15 grams of Pinellia ternata, 15 grams of Poria, 6 grams of Coptis chinensis, 10 grams of Paeonia suffruticosa, 10 grams of Gardenia jasminoides, 30 grams of mother-of-pearl, and 6 grams of roasted licorice. Decoction in water, one dose per day, twice a day. It is mainly used to treat insomnia caused by internal disturbance of deficiency heat.

Method 4:

12 grams of Angelica sinensis, 10 grams of Bupleurum chinense, 10 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 10 grams of Chuanxiong, 10 grams of Red Peony Root, 10 grams of Citrus aurantium, 10 grams of Platycodon grandiflorum, 10 grams of Cyathula capitata, 10 grams of Peach Kernel, 10 grams of Safflower, 5 grams of Coptis chinensis, 30 grams of Pinellia ternata, and 6 grams of Licorice. Decoction in water, one dose per day, twice a day. It is mainly used to treat stubborn insomnia caused by deficiency of yin and blood and poor blood circulation.

Method 5:

10 grams of Prince ginseng, 10 grams of roasted Polygala tenuifolia, 20 grams of roasted Astragalus membranaceus, 12 grams of Angelica sinensis, 10 grams of stir-fried Atractylodes macrocephala, 15 grams of Poria cocos, 30 grams of Ziziphus jujuba seed, 12 grams of longan pulp, 30 grams of Polygonum multiflorum, 6 grams of roasted licorice, 5 jujubes, and a slice of ginger. Decoction in water, one dose per day, twice a day. It is mainly used to treat insomnia caused by deficiency of heart and spleen, and malnutrition of heart blood.

Method 6:

15 grams of licorice, 8 dates, 30 grams of wheat, 30 grams of lily, 10 grams of bamboo shavings, 10 grams of rehmannia root, 12 grams of ophiopogon japonicus, 20 grams of mulberry, 20 grams of black sesame, and 30 grams of polyanthus multiflorus. Decoction in water, one dose per day, twice a day. It is mainly used to treat insomnia caused by yin deficiency, anemia, and loss of blood nourishment to the spirit.
