What is the cause of the itchy vagina?

What is the cause of the itchy vagina?

In life, many women are often troubled by gynecological diseases. When they suffer from some gynecological diseases, women will feel unbearable pain. Due to the special physiological structure of women, they are often more susceptible to invasion by some pathogens. Among gynecological diseases, vulvar itching is a common phenomenon. When this phenomenon occurs, many women will feel embarrassed to speak up and often do not go to the hospital for treatment.

What is the cause of the itchy vagina?

Increased leucorrhea

The most common local cause is increased vaginal discharge, especially vaginitis caused by Trichomonas or fungal infection. The large amount of abnormal vaginal discharge irritates the vulva and causes itching.

Wash the vulva with disinfectant solution

If you use disinfectant to rinse the vulva and vagina, or place certain drugs in the vagina (such as sulfonamides, furacillin, chlorhexidine suppositories, etc.), causing vulvar skin allergies or dermatitis, it can also cause vulvar itching.

Bad hygiene habits

Not paying attention to the local cleanliness of the vulva, sebum, sweat, menstruation, vaginal secretions, and even urine and feces will cause long-term stimulation of the vulva and cause itching: using rubber or plastic menstrual belts during menstruation, and wearing non-breathable chemical fiber underwear at other times.

Unexplained vulvar itching

Some patients have very severe vulvar itching, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some people currently believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors.

My husband's athlete's foot

Athlete's foot is a gathering place for fungi, which can infect anything related to it, such as socks, bath towels, sheets and quilts. In families where there is athlete's foot, the wife is much more likely to suffer from candidal vaginitis. To prevent candidal vaginitis, it is necessary to actively treat athlete's foot.

Drug allergy

Women with allergic constitutions who take sulfonamides or other drugs may experience a "fixed drug eruption" that often occurs at the junction of the skin and mucous membranes of the vulva. In addition to local itching, it may also be complicated by erosion and exudation. Vulvar itching may also occur if allergic reactions and contact dermatitis occur when using drugs for vaginal washing or vaginal insertion.

Treatment for vulvar itching

1. General treatment

Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, keep the vulva clean and dry, and avoid scratching. Do not wash with hot water and avoid using soap. When there is an infection, potassium permanganate solution can be used for a sitz bath, but local scrubbing is strictly prohibited. Clothes, especially underwear, should be loose and breathable. Avoid alcohol and spicy or allergic foods.

2. Etiology and Treatment

Eliminate local or systemic factors that cause itching, such as trichomoniasis, fungal infection, or diabetes

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that damp heat and yin deficiency and blood dryness are the main causes of female vulvar itching. From the perspective of holistic treatment, the onset of vulvar itching is also closely related to the liver, spleen, kidney and other internal organs in the body, and involves the Ren and Du meridians. Some are caused by damp-heat in the liver meridians and leucorrhea soaking the genitals; some are caused by liver-kidney yin deficiency, loss of essence and blood, and malnutrition of the vulva. Vulvar itching often occurs interchangeably with leucorrhea, and in severe cases, it may also be complicated by vulvar pain.
