Feeling bloated in the fourth month of pregnancy?

Four months of pregnancy is the middle stage of pregnancy. Some pregnant mothers experience abdominal distension at this time. If there is no other discomfort in the body, it is likely that the bloating is caused by indigestion. It is recommended to pay more attention to diet, eat more fruits and vegetables, and eat less beans and other foods that can cause bloating. It is also best to eat small meals frequently and don’t eat too much each time. This will reduce the bloating phenomenon.

What should I do if I feel bloating during pregnancy?

1. Eat small meals frequently

The first step to avoiding bloating is to start with your diet. Experts believe that when you have bloating, your stomach is already very bloated. If you eat a lot of food, the stomach will have too much work to do and bloat even more. Therefore, you can eat 6-8 meals a day and don't eat too much food at once. In addition, don't just eat liquid food, because liquid food is not easy to digest for the stomach and intestines. It is best to choose semi-solid food, such as cheese.

2. Eat more fiber

You can eat more vegetables and fruits. For example, during the first trimester, the baby needs a lot of protein, so the demand for foods such as starch, pasta, and beans, which are easy to produce gas and cause gastrointestinal discomfort, is relatively small and you don’t need to consume too much. In addition, you can get an appropriate amount of sugar and starch. Apples and pears are good sources. You can also get starch and protein from meat. Beef and fish are good choices.

3. Drink more water

If too much feces accumulates in the large intestine and continues to pile up, bloating will become more serious, so it is necessary to have enough water to promote defecation. Pregnant women are advised to drink warm water instead of cold water, as this can cause intestinal colic and uterine contractions. In addition, carbonated and stimulating drinks should be avoided, and soda, coffee, tea, etc. should be consumed less.

4. Massage more

When intestinal motility is not good, massage can be used to help intestinal motility. Expectant mothers are reminded that the uterus is generally located in the center of the abdomen. Some mothers, not understanding the location of the stomach and intestines, will massage the uterus, which will cause uterine contractions. Therefore, if a pregnant woman experiences bleeding or uterine contractions, massage should be stopped immediately.
